It was only a couple of days ago when the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer debuted in the United States, selling out nearly all of its stock online via retailers like Best Buy and Amazon. The powerful hardware combined with the low price ($399 or ~Rs. 18,000) certainly created quite some demand, and we’re no exceptions either.
Transforming into Indian waters soon?
Now it seems the Eee Pad Transformer might actually make it to India earlier than expected. According to Times of India, ASUS Country Head Alex Huang said the company was preparing to launch the tablet here in India this June. He also added that the original plan was to release it here in May, but supply chain issues caused by the Japan tragedy prevented that from happening.
In case you’ve forgotten, here are the specs of the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer:
- 10.1-inch IPS Panel at 1280x800 resolution encased in Gorilla Glass
- NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU
- Google Android 3.0 Honeycomb
- 1GB RAM
- 5 megapixel rear camera, 1.2 megapixel front camera with autofocus
- WiFi b/g/n
- Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
- Removable Keyboard dock with secondary battery
This is certainly a good time to be a tablet aficionado, what with the iPad 2 releasing here tomorrow, Samsung’s new offerings expected to release soon and the LG Optimus Pad rumoured to be making its way here. So we certainly hope this news is true.
