Apple is in a big soup of its own making, as reports are coming that the number of lawsuits against the Cupertino-based giant have now doubled to 30 from 15 last week. The lawsuits in question are being filed after Apple admitted to slowing down older iPhone models in order to preserve battery life.

9to5Mac reports that 13 separate lawsuits have been filed in Northern California alone out of which eight are in San Jose. The report states that the three latest cases have listed five separate causes for the lawsuit which are Breach of Implied Contract, Trespass to Chattel, Breach of Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing, Violation of California’s Unfair Competition Law and Violation of California’s Consumers Legal Remedies Act.

Will Apple be able to mitigate this disaster?

Offering battery replacement for $50 discount seemed to have eased the problem a bit. However, Apple is reportedly under investigation by a French watchdog and also has to face the US Senate Commerce Committee.

Apple had issued an  apology  on its website on 28 December after severe backlash from consumers over throttling iPhone speeds via software updates. Apple is also facing possible  multiple class-action lawsuits  across different countries as well (US, Israel, France) who seek to represent potentially millions of iPhone owners.
