Apple HomePod approved by FCC, expected to be launched soon in US at a starting price of $349

Apple HomePod will take on existing smart speakers in the market that includes Amazon Echo and Google Home smart speakers.

Apple HomePod approved by FCC, expected to be launched soon in US at a starting price of $349

**Apple HomePod** has been certified by the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The smart-speaker was spotted with a model number ‘A1639’ on the FCC website. All devices with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities need FCC certification before selling in the US market. [caption id=“attachment_3997077” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Apple’s HomePod. Reuters. Apple’s HomePod. Reuters.[/caption] The Apple HomePod was expected to be launched in December but the company **postponed the launch** to ’early 2018’. Apple said, “We need a little more time before it’s ready for our customers”, when asked about the delay in launching HomePod. The company had announced that the device will be first shipped in US, UK and Australia in early 2018. The smart speaker was introduced in June 2017 and comes with capabilities to act as a virtual assistant, make music suggestions, adjust home temperatures and much more. Apple HomePod will take on existing smart speakers in the market that includes **Amazon Echo** and **Google Home** . It is expected to be priced around $349. It is 6.8-inch tall and 5.6-inch wide and will weight 2.5 kg. Apple HomePod is will be available in White and Space Gray colour options.
