The 16GB Wi-Fi only iPad costs Rs. 27,990 and the 16GB 3G + Wi-Fi models will cost you Rs. 34,900. The iPad is also available in 32GB and 64GB capacities for both the Wi-Fi and 3G + Wi-Fi variants, though they will obviously cost you more, as is the case with the 64GB 3G + Wi-Fi iPad which costs a cool Rs. 44,900.

Better late than never

State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has been the first to come out with dedicated data plans for the iPad. There are various limited and unlimited plans, including a Rs. 599 plan which will give you a 6GB data transfer limit for a month. If you cross the 6GB limit, you will be charged 1p for every additional 10kb that you download. The plans are not locked to a contract, so they can be activated and de-activated at any time. Obviously, other operators that have micro-SIM operations are also gearing up to unveil data plans for the iPad, but it hasn't happened yet. We'll just have to wait it out and see what happens.
