Android smartwatch "is now in physical form", says report

It was late in March this year, when we first got a hint of Google's smartwatch plans. Now, closer to its I/O event, some more info has trickled in, reports Android Authority

Android Authority got in touch with sources close to the company, and quizzed them about what they had in their product pipeline. News has it that the smartwatch "is now in physical form".

Reportedly, the smartwatch appeared previously on three occasions, in three different Google office locations - Berlin, Manchester, and Mountain View; it is now set for release "sometime soon".

The Android smartwatch, reportedly will be similar to Glass in functionality. "One of the values we see to a smartwatch would be the inclusion of radios, which Glass could then tether to, freeing us from smartphones," the report adds. Another interesting revelation made by the report is that, none other than Motorola will be manufacturing the hardware for the Android smartwatch.

Smartwatch coming soon?

Smartwatches are emerging as a popular device category now. Alongside Google, LG Electronics too was reported by The Korea Times to be developing its own smartwatch. The publication quoted the source as saying, "It is one major part of many currently non-commercialized products under development by LG Electronics. The company has spared no efforts to invest in products that it believes are must-haves to stay ahead technology wise in the market, whatever the situation maybe." That said, the source refused to divulge details on whether the smartwatch will run on Android or Firefox OS; though it sees both as viable options.

Will Google give us a glimpse of its smartwatch at I/O 2013? Our guess is as good as yours!
