Sony Ericsson recently updated their Xperia range of smartphones with Android 2.3.4. After releasing the update to the Xperia Neo, Sony Ericsson have now updated the Xperia Arc and Play with the Gingerbread update. The build number of these updates is 4.0.1.A.0.283 and it comes with some pretty interesting features. The most exciting firmware update is for those using the Sony Xperia Play smartphone, as they now have the ability to record HD videos in 720p.
Now 720p HD video recording with auto-focus
Strangely, the Xperia Play did not come with this recording capability out of the box and Sony Ericsson has rectified this with their latest firmware update. According to a report by the Xperia Blog, besides the HD recording capabilities, one can record with continuous auto-focus and enable or disable the auto brightness of the display. The ability to adjust the display’s auto brightness is limited only to the Xperia Play, while the Xperia Neo and Xperia Arc will not receive this feature.
Other features of the Android 2.3.4 update to these Xperia handsets include video Google Chat, 3D panorama feature, screen capture, swipe text input, along with improvements to Facebook. Let us know your reactions about the updates to these Xperia handsets in the comments below.
