This year, we are expecting Apple to announce updates to the iPhone, the iPhone 7 Plus and a third iPhone to mark the 10th anniversary of the smartphone. There have been numerous leaks and speculations so far. A new leak suggests that Apple could be working on a new iPhone SE.
The iPhone SE, an iPhone 5/5S lookalike with new internals, was launched last year in March and this year new 32 GB and 128 GB storage variants of the handsets were launched. Now thanks to a Weibo user, we now have a leaked image which is said to be the back panel of an upcoming iPhone. Now the name is not confirmed, but if this is the second generation iPhone SE, it confirms the fact that Apple will move on from metal to a glass finish.
If you notice, even the camera arrangement is vertical, with the lens on top left and the LED flash unit just below it. The leaked image also shows a sheet that has the term 'Ion-X Glass'. This is the same material that Apple uses for its Apple Watch Sports. It is said to be more flexible, lighter and less expensive than sapphire glass however it is also more prone to scratches. The iPhone SE is the cheapest offering from Apple so it won't be come as a surprise if Apple does go for this glass.
