Airtel has become the latest service provider to offer free access to the social networking website Facebook, in India. Customers of Airtel using its prepaid services all over the country will be able to access Facebook free of cost now.
Users will be able to access their profiles and News Feeds with Airtel prepaid connections using either the Facebook app or the mobile browser. The service, says Airtel, will be accessible in nine regional languages in the country, including Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi and Tamil.
Airtel users get free Facebook access
Regional language support on Facebook is compatible not just with Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices but also with feature phones and Java enabled ones. Needless to say, this free access is being extended to Airtel’s prepaid users as part of a limited period offer. While Airtel has not revealed the date till which this promotional offer will be valid, it has mentioned that customers will be allowed to access Facebook free of charge with a data cap of 30MB per month. Post the limit, you will be charged regularly to access Facebook, as per your plan.
If you’re already accessing the Internet on your Airtel prepaid connection, you can start surfing Facebook right away without any charges. If you’re using it for the first time however, Airtel says that you need to head to m.facebook.com to register for free usage.
