After introducing Snap Map a few days ago, Snapchat has introduced a few new features to its app, essentially, an update to its already existing portfolio of geo-filters and voice filters.
Moving away from its tradition of not adding links, Snapchat has added a 'Paperclip' feature which allows users to add links to their snaps. These links are to websites, which is especially useful for verified users and those who have their own blogs or websites. This was recently started by Instagram.
Updating its filters options, Snapchat now gives the option to add filters in the background, unlike its 'Geofilter' which used to be on the snap. By using the scissor option, objects behind which the background has to come up can be selected. Subsequently, the filters can be added.
Additionally, it has also brought an 'on-demand' geo-filter for life events like wedding or graduation. These filters can be bought at $5.99. This is available in the US and is yet to come to India.
Another feature includes a voice filter without the animated lens. The available voice filters vary from a cat to a robot. The update is available on both Android and iOS.
Recently, Snap Map, the geo-location feature of Snapchat, received criticism for exposing the location of its users which can be potentially detrimental to their safety. However, according to their website, Snapchat did say that the users have an option of whom they want to share their location.
