Acer already has a tablet on the way, but it seems that a single tablet is not enough for Acer. It has announced not one but two more tablets, which are yet to be named. On the hardware front, it does look quite interesting. The screen measures in at 10.1 inches and has a ten-point multitouch system and an inbuilt gyroscope for gaming. The screen will sport a resolution of 1280x800. For processing power it will have a dual-core 1 GHz processor and 1080p output over HDMI. It also boasts of a front and rear facing camera, with the front camera being HD for video calling.
The other tablet is a 7 inch variant which packs in the same screen resolution as its big brother and will be powered by a dual-core Qualcomm CPU with integrated Wi-Fi and 3G. Both tablets will have Froyo (Android 2.2) and will ship in April 2011.
While the dual screen laptop christened the “Iconia”, uses LCD panels and completely does away with the keyboard, initial impressions are that the screen have a glossy finish to them and gives out quite a bit of glare when in the vicinity of bright light.
Users were impressed with the touch functionality, which is pretty clever by the way. Five fingers open up a widget which allows you to scroll through the apps listed in it. One cause of concern was the onscreen keyboard which had quite a learning curve.
The specs on the Iconia are quite impressive; it is equipped with an Intel Intel Core i5, 4 GB DDR3 memory, a pair of multi-touch displays which measure in at 14 inches. The resolution for these displays is 1366x768 and is powered by 128MB Intel HD graphics card. It also has VGA / HDMI outputs, an inbuilt microphone and an S/PDIF interface. You can have a choice of either a 320/500/640/750GB hard drive.
The Iconia offers tons of connectivity options, it packs in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0+HS, integrated 3G WWAN, gigabit Ethernet port and two 2.0 USB and one USB 3.0 ports. All this amazing technology is backed up by a one year warranty.
