First, it was the Galaxy S. Following it were the Droids, Motorola Droid and HTC Droid Incredible. Even a non-Android phone, the Nokia N900, got a Gingerbread port. Now it looks that the Acer Liquid gets to join in on the fun too!
Months ago, we told you about the Acer Liquid not getting a Froyo update. “Who needs Froyo when we can have Gingerbread though,” said the folks over at Modaco and got to work. Now, even though the port is still at an early build stage, it’s got some features working. However, Wi-Fi and the Camera are still non-operational though. Here’s what the original post had to say:__STARTQUOTE__Hi all, After some days trying with Andrea, we successfully make Gingerbread runs on our liquid.
Hope stable gingerbread comes soon.
Working: GPS, all sensor, touch screen, 3G(data/voice), camera preview.
Not Working: Wifi, camera.
When touch screen fixed , I think it's time to release for powerful user.__ENDQUOTE__You can get to downloading the port here, but as always we’d advice you to be careful while doing so, because you risk bricking your device or voiding your warranty or in the worst case, both!
