Following the launch of its C7 Chromebook last month, Acer has introduced another Chromebook, the Acer C710-2605, which costs $299.99 and features better specifications than the $199 Acer C7.
The Acer C710-2605 has more storage than the C7 as it comes with a 500GB hard disk, twice the amount of RAM at 4GB, and a 5,000mAh battery. It runs on an Intel Celeron Processor 847 clocked at 1.1GHz with 2MB L3 cache and Intel HD Graphics on board a Mobile Intel NM70 Express chipset. It has a 11.6-inch HD CineCrystal LED-backlit LCD display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, an HD webcam, a multi-gesture touchpad, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, HDMI, USB, a 2-in-1 card reader and a one-year limited warranty.
Commenting on the Chromebook, Acer stated, “Chromebook's cloud-based Chrome OS and built-in virus protection refresh on reboot. No updates to track, no discs to insert, and backups are automatic, too. Unlike other computers, Chromebooks get better with age. Plus, Chrome OS's intuitive interface makes it all so simple.”

Acer's C7 Chromebook costs less than the C710-2605, but it does have lower specifications when compared to its successor. According to Acer, the C7 Chromebook was designed to be an additional laptop for families, students and business people.
Acer states that the C7 Chromebook boots in less than 18 seconds and resumes quickly from sleep mode. Users can access apps through the app launcher and find new apps from the thousands of Chrome apps and games featured in the Chrome Web Store.
The C7 Chromebook has security features built-in to defend against malware and viruses, according to Acer. The C7 is automatically updated. It comes with integrated 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, so customers can quickly connect to hotspots and wireless networks.
The company claims that the C7 Chromebook is easy to maintain and share with others around the home, school or work. Users can have separate accounts and can simply log in to get things done. Acer Chromebook customers are offered up to 100GB of free Google Drive storage for the first two years after purchase, so your files are stored in the cloud even if the notebook is lost, damaged or stolen. Customers can also access files offline, or create and edit Google Documents and use Gmail offline as well.
The Acer C7 weighs only 1.4 Kg and is 1-inch thick. The slim size houses a full-sized keyboard and a fully-clickable touchpad.
The Acer C7 features an integrated HD 1.3 megapixel webcam with an LED indicator and microphone that can be used for video conferencing, as well as capturing video and photos. Acer claims that websites, documents, photos and high-definition video look crisp and clear on the C7’s 11.6-inch HD Widescreen CineCrystal LED-backlit LCD.
The premiere offering in the Acer C7 Chromebook line is the Acer C710-2847. It is powered by an Intel Celeron 847 processor clocked at 1.10 GHz with 2MB L3 cache, and 2GB of DDR3 memory and has a 320GB HDD for storing files.
For connectivity, the Acer C7 has three USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port for pushing video and content to external displays and HDTVs, and a card reader that supports SD card and MMC, so customers can play their music and video directly from the card, or upload photos, video and music to sites.
