A prototype reveals Samsung's plans for a Galaxy S8+ with dual camera setup

The dual camera setup is becoming quite popular, and its not limited to Android devices, even Apple launched the iPhone 7 Plus with a similar arrangement. While it made sense for Samsung to finally join the bunch this year, it didn't. Instead Samsung used the same camera as the Galaxy S7.

Now if you are thinking that Samsung was just being lazy with the cameras on the Galaxy S8 and S8+, think again. According to a leaked prototype unit, Samsung was planning on fitting a dual camera on the Galaxy S8+.

The leaked images show Galaxy S8+ with a vertical dual-camera setup at the back. That's not all. If you notice carefully, the fingerprint scanner is nowhere to be seen. This means that Samsung was not only trying for a dual-camera, but was also planning to incorporate a fingerprint scanner underneath the display.

We don't exactly know the reason for not incorporating these features in the final product, but the most obvious reason we could think of is that Samsung was not ready.

Hopefully the company can work around these features and get them ready for the Galaxy Note 8. Since the Note 7 was a bad 'blow' for the company, having these two new features could make the Note series great again.
