Micromax's A116 Canvas HD delayed due to 'procedural issues'

Micromax’s much-awaited and discussed quad-core smartphone, the A116 Canvas HD is facing more shipment delays. The phone, which was priced at Rs 13,990 at the time of the launch, was exclusively available for sale on Snapdeal when it was launched last month.

Now according to Snapdeal , the phone shipments are delayed to due procedural issues. Snapdeal posted the following message on its Facebook page,

Dear Customers,

We know that some of you have been facing issue with regard to the Order placed for Micromax Canvas HD. We understand your concern and it is unfortunate that Micromax had to delay the orders due to procedural issues. Our team has vehemently dispatched the first lot of the orders despite the demand for it being at its peak. We along with Micromax have communicated by an e-mail(publish with this post) to each and every customer about the reason for the delay and the next course of action.

We would urge you to understand that we are doing everything to serve you the best. We are here to answer every query of yours in the meantime.

Snapdeal also shared a picture with a message from Micromax, which posted details explaining the delay. Micromax says, that thanks to the proposed hike on duties on mobiles above Rs 2000, which was introduced by the FM in Budget 2013, and due to other procedural issues the shipment of the smartphones has been delayed by 10 days. The company has not specified what these other “procedural issues” are and also adds that the price of the smartphone will now be Rs 14,499.

The company has also said that users who booked the phone at the original price won’t have to pay more and will get a Carry Case worth Rs 700 free. It also promises full refund to users who want to cancel the order.

Key features of the Canvas HD A116 are: It has a 5-inch touchscreen with 1280×720 pixels screen resolution, is powered by MediaTek’s MT6589 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and is run on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.

The phone also sports an 8MP rear camera with LED flash, multiple camera settings, 4X zoom and auto focus. It is 3G enabled, with memory expandable up to 32GB.
