LG G Flex with curved display to launch India in Feb 2014

Yesterday LG Electronics showed off its new G Flex smartphone with the Curved display at a launch event in New Delhi. The company said that the phone will go on sale in India in February 2014. According to IBNLive Amit Gujral, head marketing at LG India, said that the price of the LG G Flex in India would be in the range of Rs 60,000 to Rs 65,000 but the final price would be announced later. LG also unveiled its curved OLED TV (55EA9800). The 55-inch TV will be available in India at a price of Rs 9,99,000. The LG G Flex is the company’s first curved display smartphone. The company says that the POLED display and curved OLED panel are built on plastic substrates instead of glass which gives the LG G Flex its unique shape and durability.The screen resolution is 1280x720p. LG G Flex smartphone is seen in product photo. 2) LG also adds that the smartphones comes with the world’s first curved battery technology which was developed just for this smartphone. It has a 3,500mAh battery which LG says should provide enough power for a full day’s use. 3) It has a 2.26 GhZ Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor with Adreno 330 clocked at 450 MHz for graphics. The smartphone comes with 2GB of RAM, and 32 GB of storage space. 4) It runs the Android 4.2.2 version of Jelly Bean and has a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 2.1 megapixel front camera. 5) The Korean version of the smartphone supports LTE-Adavance for 4G, and HSPA+ for better 3G connectivity. It’s not clear if the Indian version of the phone will support LTE-A. It also supports Bluetooth 4.0 and is compatible with USB 3.0 version. The phone also supports WiFi and NFC. It will be available in Titan Silver. Some software features of the smartphone from LG include: • QTheater which gives users quick access to photos, videos and YouTube right from the lock screen. • Dual Window that divides the wide 6-inch screen into two separate windows. • Swing Lockscreen alters the image on the lockscreen depending on how the G Flex is held. • Face Detection Indicator displays the LED on the Rear Key in green to confirm status of face detection and focus.
