Aug 16, 2012

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 that was launched in Britain, South Korea and the US hours ago by the South Korean Electronics company, is already available for pre-order in India.

The offer under the “latest” tab on the official Samsung India eBooking site, says interested consumers can book the device by paying an advance of Rs 2000 and offers a free Book cover worth Rs 3249 with the purchase.

The ‘phablet’ contains key features such as a stylus-type pen and a split-screen function to stand the new device apart from rival Apple Inc’s iPad. It has picked up positive early reviews from tech bloggers impressed with the S-Pen’s writing and sketching performance and the tablet’s ability to have two apps active on a split-screen.

Consumers who wish to use the India e-store to prebook the phone will receive an electronic coupon against the advance payment, which will be used to adjust the advance payment against the final price, which has not been revealed yet. In the US however the 32 GB model will sell for $549, versus the iPad’s $599.

There is also no official word on when the device will be launched, though the site says that an email will be exclusively sent to customers who have pre-booked their Galaxy Note 8000 on the eStore, and will be dispatched on a first-come first-served basis to the customers who complete the purchase of the product.

The new Note 10.1 boasts a quad-core processor with 1.4 GHz clock speed, and comes with a 5 megapixel rear camera and 1.9 megapixel front-facing camera, which also detects the user’s eye movements to prevent the device from going into standby mode.
