Is this what the iPhone 5 looks like?

by Jul 30, 2012

The iPhone 5, or iPhone 5S or just the new iPhone is barely a few months away from launch and the rumour mills are churning. In fact, so high is the anticipation for the new iPhone that it negatively affected Apple’s Q3 2011 results.

From a bigger, thinner 4 inch-screen to a 19 pin connector, rumours are flying thick and fast. The latest one, however trumps them all.

According to Chinese supplier, iLab Factory, there are actual images of the iPhone 5 available online. You can check out the entire photo collection here.

According to the site, it looks like the smartphone is fully assembled and appears to have a much bigger screen than the iPhone 4S.

Of course tech websites all across have picked up the images but everyone’s maintaining sufficient skepticism regarding the authenticity of the images. As TheVerge point out, for now it’s difficult to dismiss it as fake and the phone pictured is consistent with reports suggesting that Apple’s next iPhone will have a smaller, 19-pin dock connector, and a taller, larger screen.

Just to recap here’s what they’re are saying about the next iPhone:

•  A thinner screen and bigger screen: According to a Wall Street Journal report, the next iPhone will use technology, which integrates touch sensors into the LCD, makes it unnecessary to have a separate touch-screen layer. This means that screen will be thinner and is likely to make the iPhone less bulky.

Earlier WSJ had also reported that the iPhone would have a bigger 4 inch screen compared to the 3.5 inch screen.

• Goodbye 30 Pin connector: According to a Reuters report the next iPhone will come with a 19-pin connector port at the bottom instead of the proprietary 30-pin port “to make room for the earphone moving to the bottom”. Yes this means more accessories for your Apple products, and no that iPod charger might not work for the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5 is likely to come out this October.
