HTC’s next device: The 5-inch M7 with a 13 mp camera?

by Dec 10, 2012

2012 is about to end soon and in the smartphone world rumours have already begun of the next line of devices which will be launched in 2013.

As far as HTC is concerned, the next device codenamed M7 could be launched ahead of Samsung’s next flagship device, the Galaxy S IV. By the way, rumours mills indicate that the S IV could come with an unbreakable screen, for more on that click here.

According to this report, the HTC M7 could come with a 5-inch HD display screen with 1920 x 1080-pixel screen resolution. It is likely to sport a quad-core Qualcomm S4 Pro processor ( like the new Galaxy Nexus 4) and a 13-megapixel camera.

The report adds that the device which will run the latest Android OS will have uni-body aluminum shell.  HTC incidentally hasn’t exactly had the best year. In November the Taiwanese smartphone maker’s sales were down 31.4 percent compared to the previous year.

HTC’s One X also hasn’t helped the firm become the number one smartphone maker as it hoped. According to ComScore data, HTC is behind LG and Motorola as far as OEM (original equipment manufacturers) are concerned in the US for October 2012.

And its not just the US where HTC isn’t doing well. IDC’s quarterly data for Q3 2012 shows that HTC is behind RIM and ZTE as far as smartphone manufacturers are concerned on a  global scale.

With stalled sales and a highly competitive market, the M7 will carry a lot of expectations and it will be interesting to see what HTC will bring out finally.
