The Google doodle is no stranger to celebrating the national holidays of countries around the world. But yesterday, with a doodle for Indian users which was meant as a hat tip to the country's independence day, the search engine behemoth fumbled.
Many social media users and Google users took to Twitter to point out a mistake in the tri-colour ribbon that spelled out 'Google' on the homepage yesterday. Rather than saffron, the initial parts of the ribbon were a bright yellow.
The doodle also found its way to Google Now as well, which @aatifsumar realised and pointed out to others. Google quickly replaced the old doodle with a new one, where the first 'G' and 'o' were more saffron than yellow.
We are so patriotic that we don't even get the color of our flag right! #GoogleDoodle

Today's Google Doodle is supposed to depict Indian Independence Day but looks inspired from the Ivory Coast flag rather than India's.
