Games for Sony's PS4: Driveclub, Killzone, Destiny and more

Sony has shown off the controller for its new generation PlayStation 4 console at an event in New York. The console itself was not displayed by the company, although it should be out in the time for the holiday season of of 2013. The Japanese electronics giant, however, did show off a bunch of games for the new PS4 and here’s a quick short look at the them. PS4 has an updated controller with a touchpad and “share” button. The controller also features a light bar, which means a new PlayStation camera can more easily track the device for motion control. Sony is hoping to making gaming more social and cloud-based in an age where smartphones and tablets have overtaken the world. [/caption] The PS4 will use Gaikai game streaming technology which will allow users to directly download games on their console. Users can play the game online as it downloads. The console will also have the ability to download games in the background, even while it is powered off. Users will also be able to upload videos online while playing games and thus share their gameplay on social networks in near real-time. With the share button, you can also watch your friends playing a game online and you can also take over the game via your own controller, if your friend has to leave his game mid-way. Here’s a quick look at some games that were shown off during Sony’s presentation: Knack Knack is the first official game for Sony’s PS4 and it was shown by Sony’s Mark Cerny, who is the PS4’s lead system architect and best known for the game Marble Madness. The game Knack has a character made up of stone blocks, which seems to grow on command, and is fighting goblins on part of the human race. The storyline seems to hint at some epic struggle between humans and goblins with Knack being central to this looming war. According to The Next Web,The game reportedly fully utilizes the PS4′s processing power, pulling together its graphic capabilities into a story that blurs the line between gameplay and cinematic videos. The trailer looks quite good. Watch video below: Driveclub If you think that this just a simple racing game, think again. Presented by Evolution Studios this game, is all about “Collaborative racing with friends, on teams.” The game is a socially connected racing game and players can form teams as they race. You can check out the preview for this here: Diablo III This was the big surprise as Blizzard’s Chris Metzer announced that they would partnering with Sony. Diablo III will also be coming to the PS3 along with the PS4. “Many of you are probably wondering why an old-school PC game developer is crashing the Sony party tonight,” said Blizzard’s Chris Metzen when came on the stage. You can check out our review of Diablo III here . Check out the announcement video here: Destiny This single shooter game by Bungie, which will allow users to customise characters, and will incorporate massively multiplayer online game (MMO) elements as well. The game is set in a futuristic universe and the graphics do look awesome in the video preview. Very Avataarish you might say. The game will also be coming to the PS3. Check out the video preview here: Killzone: Shadow Fall  Killzone, which is developed by Guerrilla Games, is another first-person shooter set in a futuristic environment. The world of Killzone: Shadow Fall, which is set thirty years after the events of the Killzone trilogy, is a very different place. Forced together by circumstance, the two rival factions of the Helghast and the Vektans live side by side in a futuristic city, divided by a vast wall. According to The Verge the game showed off PlayStation 4’s graphical prowess. Lens flares, stunning explosions, and excellent depth of field simulation made the on-screen warfare all the more engaging. Check out the video preview of the game:
