Research in Motion’s (RIM) new line of BlackBerry devices, the BlackBerry 10 is out today. The smartphone-maker is expected to launch the the new OS and two new handsets. We’ll be tracking all the live updates from the event. The event begins at 8.30 pm India time.
BlackBerry 10 is being touted as RIM’s biggest gamble and the platform that could help the former number one smartphone maker pose a challenge to Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android. RIM has been struggling in the past couple of years and according to IDC data, in the Q4 of 2012 RIM did not make it to the list of the top five smartphone manufacturers.
RIM is promising a complete overhaul with BlackBerry 10. So what are we to see at the launch today? A swanky new touch-screen based user interface, that looks like a mash-up of Android and iOS. The company will also launch two new BlackBerry devices. One is the all-touch BlackBerry Z10 and the keyboard-equipped BlackBerry X10. The X10 has a touchscreen as well.
