Micromax has begun rolling out a JellyBean update to its popular A110 Canvas 2 device.
However the update will have to be manually configured, through the Micromax service centres. The more tech savvy will be able to manually flash the operating system ROM after downloading the update from the Micromax FTP services.
NDTV reported that the update is a 282MB download and also removes the M! Store, in addition to updating the OS. It also brings some new wallpapers and a new colour scheme which we’ve seen in the Canvas HD.
Key features of the device include:
• A 5-inch HD IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels.
• It has an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 4X zoom.
• It has internal storage of 4 GB, which is expandable to 32GB via microSD. The device has 1GB RAM.
Micromax has said it will launch 30 smartphones this year to expand the portfolio of handsets and tablet PCs as it eyes leadership position in the segment.
“We have a strong portfolio of products in the smart devices category, which contributes about 40-45 per cent of our revenues. We are looking at bringing in 30 new smartphones this year across price categories and take up market leadership position,” Micromax CEO Deepak Mehrotra said.
