Analysis: Despite billions in aid, U.S. unable to get Pakistan to confront militants

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Since 2001 the United States has tried virtually every strategy available to persuade Pakistan's army to take the threat of militancy more seriously, but 12 years and $28 billion in aid later, all the American approaches are widely viewed as having failed. First, the Bush administration heaped praise on former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, agreed to reimburse the Pakistani army for anti-Taliban military operations and launched drone strikes that killed al Qaeda leaders and militants wanted by the Pakistani government #Yahoo! #content #wcnts #typeof-social #undefined #cookie #values #rco #aut #rch #typeof-registered #cnt

The authorities, long accused of not being tough enough on extremists, quickly pointed the finger at Afghanistan, suggesting the neighbouring nation was not doing enough to catch Pakistani Taliban commanders hiding on its territory #Yahoo! #content #wcntn #typeof-social #undefined #rch #typeof-registered #cnt

Uber curbs "God View" access as privacy concerns mount

(Reuters) - Online taxi service Uber Technologies Inc has limited employee access to its "God View," a real-time taxi monitoring tool, amid increasing privacy concerns. God View, which lets the company see all Uber cabs in a city and waiting customers who have hailed cars, is now available only to "employees working in operations or other areas, like fraud prevention," Uber said in a letter to Senator Al Franken.
