Evidence shows spate of abductions, torture in Ukraine: Human rights group

BERLIN (Reuters) - Armed separatist groups and pro-Kiev forces have abducted, then beaten and tortured activists, protesters and journalists in eastern Ukraine in the last three months, Amnesty International said in a report published on Friday. No thorough or reliable data is available on the number of abductions, the rights group said. But figures from Ukraine's interior ministry show there were almost 500 abductions between April and June, and the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission for Ukraine reported 222 cases in that time, it said. #US #NewsTracker #Russia #European Union #Vladimir Putin #Ukraine #Viktor Yanukovych #Ukraine protests #Pro-Russian #Crimean crisis #Petro Poroshenko
