Poroshenko to seek ceasefire plan after "very tough" talks with Putin

MINSK (Reuters) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko promised after late-night talks with Russia's Vladimir Putin to work on an urgent ceasefire plan to defuse the separatist conflict in the east of his former Soviet republic. The first negotiations between the two leaders since June were described by Putin as positive, but he said it was not for Russia to get into the details of truce terms between the Kiev government and two rebel eastern regions #India #Business #Technology #Arabic #Italy #Latin America #Mexico #Ukraine #russian #opinion

Ukraine accuses Russia of opening new war front before leaders' meeting

KIEV (Reuters) - Ukraine accused Russia on Monday of sending soldiers across the border to open a new front in the separatist war that has devastated the east of the country and provoked the gravest East-West crisis since the fall of communism. The charge, dismissed by Moscow, dealt a blow to already slim hopes of progress at talks on Tuesday towards ending the conflict between pro-Russian rebels and Ukrainian troops, in which more than 2,000 people have been killed. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who is due to meet Russia's Vladimir Putin in the Belarussian capital of Minsk, expressed "extraordinary concern" at the Russian move, his press service said, setting the scene for a possibly angry encounter. #United States #Japan #France #Arabic #Italy #United Kingdom #Latin America #Mexico #russian #opinion

Russian Deputy PM says no plans to ban McDonald's - Itar-Tass

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian authorities are not planning to close the McDonald's chain in the country, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich was quoted saying on Saturday, after inspectors visited a number of restaurants run by the fast-food company. "No one is talking about it at all (a ban on McDonald's in Russia)," Dvorkovich was quoted saying by Itar-Tass news agency, in what could be a reprieve for the food chain, which considers Russia as one of its top markets. Russia's food safety watchdog has launched inspections of McDonald's restaurants across the country against the backdrop of a standoff with the West over the Ukraine crisis and has closed three of its outlets in Moscow, citing breaches of sanitary regulations. #Brazil #Technology #France #Russia #markets #Entertainment #Ukraine #russian #opinion
