Death penalty only for terror? Law Commission's proposal no lasting solution

The Supreme Court had already decreed that capital punishment should be reserved for the rarest of rare cases. In fact the number of death sentences being quashed shows they are being imposed too arbitrarily. #ConnectTheDots #Capital punishment #Death Penalty #Law Commission #Death row #Delhi gangrape #Yakub Memon #rarest of rare case. law commission

Amnesty International responds on Yakub Memon: Why India doesn't need the death penalty

In India, the risk of executing someone in error is not minor. The Supreme Court has itself acknowledged that death sentences are handed out in a subjective and inconsistent way. Research by Amnesty International and PUCL has shown that whether people are sentenced to death depend on factors ranging from the quality of their lawyers to the idiosyncrasies of judges. #InMyOpinion #Capital punishment #Death Penalty #Amnesty International #Yakub Memon
