TEAM INDIA
  • Duncan Fletcher

    Born: Salisbury (now Harare)

    DOB: 27.10.1948

He was appointed as India's coach in April 2011 but hasn't had the best run.A win here would be big for him.

  • Mahendra Singh Dhoni

    Born: Ranchi, Bihar (now Jharkhand)

    DOB: 07.07.1981

    Batting/Bowling style: RHB, RM, Wk

Led India to win the ICC World T20 2007 and the ICC CWC 2011. He will become the only captain to lead his side at all ICC WT20 tournaments and in the sub-continent expect him to walk in and change things around in a jiffy.

  • Ravichandran Ashwin

Born: Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu

    DOB: 17.09.1986

    Batting/Bowling style: RHB, ROB

Ashwin is creating waves in Test matches but it was his exploits in T20 that first attracted the attention of the selectors. He has the best economy (6.22) in Indian Premier League among all bowlers bowling 100 or more overs. His 'carrom' ball is an important weapon in his and India's armoury.

  • Lakshmipathi Balaji

Born: Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu

    DOB: 27.09.1981

    Batting/Bowling style: RHB, RMF

Was the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the Indian Premier League, for Chennai Super Kings against Kings XI Punjab in 2008 and his selection was a bit of a surprise.

  • Piyush Chawla

    Born: Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh

    DOB: 24.12.1988

    Batting/Bowling style: LHB, RLB

Can bat usefully down the order but his bowling leaves a lot to be desired. He holds the dubious distinction of conceding the most sixes off his bowling in Indian Premier League.

  • Ashoke Dinda

Born: Medinipur, Calcutta (now Kolkata), Bengal

    DOB: 25.03.1984

    Batting/Bowling style: RHB, RFM

He made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka at Nagpur in December 2009, where he claimed his first international wicket, Sanath Jayasuriya. He may not play too many games.

  • Gautam Gambhir

    Born: Delhi

    DOB: 14.10.1981

    Batting/Bowling style: LHB, RLB

He is India's highest run-getter in ICC WT20 and Twenty20 Internationals but will need to find a way around his troubles around the off-stump.

  • Zaheer Khan

    Born: Shrirampur, Maharashtra

    DOB: 07.10.1978

    Batting/Bowling style: RHB, LFM

Was India's joint-leading wicket-taker at the ICC WT20 2009, with seven wickets at an average of 17.57. His experience will be vital for India - if India can't keep the runs down to a decent number, they will have a tough task despite their batting strength.

  • Virat Kohli

    Born: Delhi

    DOB: 05.11.1988

    Batting/Bowling style: RHB, RM

He is the man with the hot hand. He can't stop scoring the big runs and India will need him to shine once again. He made his T20I debut in June 2010, against Zimbabwe where he scored 26 not out but he has come a long way since then.

  • Irfan Pathan

    Born: Baroda, Gujarat

    DOB: 27.10.1984

    Batting/Bowling style: LHB, LMF

He is India's leading wicket-taker in T20 internationals and his batting is not be trifled with either.

  • Suresh Raina

    Born: Muradnagar, Uttar Pradesh

    DOB: 27.11.1986

    Batting/Bowling style: LHB, ROB

He is one of five players to score hundreds in all three formats. In the sub-continent, against the spinners, he can be deadly.

  • Virender Sehwag

    Born: Delhi

    DOB: 20.10.1978

    Batting/Bowling style: RHB, ROB

Not his best format and is not in the best form either. But he can turn it around instantly. That's Sehwag and India will need him to put his best foot forward.

  • Rohit Sharma

    Born: Bansod, Nagpur, Maharashtra

    DOB: 30.04.1987

    Batting/Bowling style: RHB, ROB

Has been dumped out of the ODI squad and doesn't look like getting a chance in Tests either. So he will be pretty motivated to come good. He always bounces back.

  • Harbhajan Singh

    Born: Jullundur (now Jalandhar), Punjab

    DOB: 03.07.1980

    Batting/Bowling style: RHB, ROB

It's been a while but the Turbanator is back. He made his T20I debut in December 2006, against South Africa and even though he doesn't get wickets, he usually doesn't concede too many.

  • Yuvraj Singh

    Born: Chandigarh

    DOB: 12.12.1981

    Batting/Bowling style: LHB, SLA

Yuvraj Singh has come good for India in the big tournaments and it will be great to see him back on the field. He adds a lot of depth to the Indian team. But will he have had enough match practice?

  • Manoj Tiwary

    Born: Howrah, Bengal

    DOB: 14.11.1985

    Batting/Bowling style: RHB, RLB

Has rediscovered his best form but will find it tough to break into the playing XI.
