- Born in the Czech city of Brno in 1985, Rosol started playing tennis at the age of six.
- Twenty years later, he is ranked at exactly 100 in the ATP world rankings with a career high of 65 achieved in August last year.
- He had just 18 wins on the ATP tour before he beat Rafael Nadal last night.
- Rosol turned professional in 2004 and is coached by 1999 US Open quarter-finalist Slava Dosedel.
- The Czech favours clay-court competitions, having won four of his five Challenger titles on the red surface.
- Rosol’s first-round win over Ivan Dodig was his first victory at Wimbledon.
- It was the first time the Czech has played in the main draw after losing in the first round of qualifying in each of the last five years.
- Rosol had never played a professional match on grass before the Aegon Championships at Queen’s Club earlier this month, where he beat Victor Hanescu and Marcos Baghdatis.
- This is just his sixth appearance in a Grand Slam.
- His best showing in a Slam came in last year’s French Open, when he reached the third round and lost to Juan Ignacio Chela.
