Sep 24, 2012

Wasim Akram has now proved that he can be a rap artist and look cool while doing it too.

The cricket legend who was a brand ambassador for Mobilink Telecom, switched to the rival telecom company, Ufone a few months ago. But a couple of days back, Akram officially made his singing debut with Ali Gul Pir, for a Ufone TVC Tum Hi Toh Ho Saeen.

Pir, who first attained fame, through his first song ‘Waderai Ka Beta’ which went viral does most of the singing but Akram adds a nice touch of his own to the song.

In India, we’ve seen stars like Amitabh Bachan, Sanjay Dutt and a few others try their hand at rap but this is probably happening for the first time in Pakistan. Akram, who works as a cricket commentator these days, seems to have the flair for the job.

Pir extended the lyrics for this new rap song titled “Tum Hi tau ho Saaen” which is named after Ufone’s official tagline, Ufone Tum Hi Toh Ho. The track is dedicated to cricket fanatics who are passionate towards the game.
