London: Premier League side Tottenham has hired Andre Villas-Boas as its new head coach.
The Portuguese manager replaced Harry Redknapp in charge on Tuesday and returns to England four months after he was fired by fellow London club Chelsea.
The 34-year-old Villas-Boas will look to rebuild his reputation at a team that finished fourth in England’s top division last season.

However, Tottenham will not compete in the Champions League after losing its place because Chelsea, which finished sixth in the league, beat Bayern Munich in the final to win last season’s competition and qualify for this year’s edition.
Tottenham will instead play in the Europa League, which Villas-Boas won with Porto in 2011.
Redknapp was fired by Spurs on 14 June.
