Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said that the NBA side has a billion new fans after his team picked Indian Satnam Singh Bhamara in the NBA Draft today. “There’s a billion new Mavs fans out there right now,” he said. “Represent big guy. Represent!” he added in a tweet. [caption id=“attachment_2313430” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] "There’s a billion new Mavs fans out there right now," Cuban said. AFP[/caption] Satnam was the 52nd player to be picked in the draft and became the first Indian player to be chosen by an NBA team — a huge feat for the 19-year-old who is from small village Ballo Ke in Punjab. Cuban also said that his team believed in creating legends in Dallas — before saying “and we certainly created a legend”. IMG Academy director of basketball Kenny Natt reacted by saying that it was an ’emotional’ moment for him “It is very emotional for me to see Satnam make his dream a reality. I have watched Satnam grow up before my eyes and I am so proud of the many sacrifices and the hard work he has put in over the years — not only in the court and the classroom but the enormous amount of time spent away from his family as well,” he said.
