Our Euro 2012 knockout predictions

by Jun 21, 2012

The Euro 2012 knockout stages are finally here and they’ve thrown up some pretty tasty encounters. Of course the pick of the matches is Spain vs France, but the rest of them promise to be equally exciting.

Here are the quarter-final encounters.

PORTUGAL vs CZECH REPUBLIC

Cristiano Ronaldo may have missed a few chances against Denmark but the Real Madrid ace fired on all cylinders against Netherlands. If he is in fine form tonight, then the Czechs are in for a nightmare.

Our pick: Portugal

GERMANY vs GREECE

Germany are like a machine. And that is true. But Greece are the ultimate giant-killers. Joachim Loew’s best playmaker Mesut Ozil hasn’t set the tournament on fire yet, but his manager expects him to do just that when the Germans take on the Greeks.

Spain or France? AFP

Our pick: Germany

SPAIN vs FRANCE

Probably the pick of the games from the quarter-final round. These are two very well-matched teams with France showing as much attacking intent as Spain in recent games. The loss to the Swedes may have hurt them, but they will be looking to get back on track against the world champions.

Our pick: France

ENGLAND vs ITALY

One team which has won their matches through defensive discipline and the other a team which is known for their defensive prowess and have surprised by attacking in Euro 2012.

Our pick:  A bit of a disagreement here. Check out the video for more.
