The All-India Senior Selection Committee met in Delhi earlier today to pick the Indian team for the first three matches of the ODI series between India and England.
Virender Sehwag has missed out and that means Ajinkya Rahane could get a chance to open regularly. Cheteshwar Pujara has been picked in place of Sehwag. The Gujarati youngster has impressed in the longer format of the game, can also look forward to some ODI cricket.
Sehwag's performances have been below par in recent times and the selection committee have taken the bold step of dropping the senior member of the team.
The team is as follows: M.S. Dhoni (C), Gautam Gambhir, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, R. Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ashok Dinda, Shami Ahmed
The first three ODIs will be played at Rajkot, Kochi and Ranchi, on 11 January, 15 January and 19 January respectively.
