Nasir Jamshed leaves trophy behind in New Delhi

by Jan 8, 2013

Karachi: Pakistan’s Nasir Jamshed was in impeccable form in the ODI series against India, scoring two hundreds and grabbing the Man of the Series trophy. While India found it hard to dislodge him at the crease, Jamshed proved he was not infallible by leaving his trophy behind in the team hotel in New Delhi.

According to a Geo News report, Jamshed was in some discomfort at New Delhi airport when he discovered that he did not have the trophy with him. It was reported that the local liaison officer committed to sending him the trophy by courier.

The 23-year-old opener has already made quite a splash in his short career. He averages 50.26 from 22 matches, with all three of his hundreds coming against India. The last of those - his 106 in the second ODI in Kolkata - enabled Pakistan to seal the one-day series 2-0. Putting that century into perspective, only two other players went past 50 in that game.

Losing his trophy was not the only misfortune that Nasir suffered on tour. The News in Pakistan reports that his lucky bat was broken after the second ODI and he played with a new one in Delhi.
