Jwala Gutta left fuming after Twitter user brings up 'Chinese mother' to call her 'anti-national'

India badminton doubles star Jwala Gutta was outraged when a Twitter user, in a derogatory way, called her mother – Yelan Gutta – a Chinese. The tweet turned into a heated argument when the concerned Twitterati questioned Jwala for her anti-Narendra Modi stand. Jwala’s mother, Yelan Gutta is of Chinese descent who married Indian Kranti Gutta from Hyderabad.

"Is it because ur mother is from China that's y u oppose Modi every time?" the user asked. To that, Jwala replied, "When u bring my parents in the conversation..u wish u didn't see this side of me!!! Mind it."

The user then tweeted, "With all due respect to your parents. I am not questioning anyone. My intention (in fact I am eager) to know what makes the shuttler so anti-Narendra Modi."

Annoyed with the claim, Jwala further said, "Firstly I've lost all respect for u!! So I don't think u will get any answer from me!! Secondly if u had any question..ask straight!"

In recent times, social media has become a platform of sorts to corner and troll anyone, especially with unnecessary personal attacks on celebrities if they post anything in relation to government or even on their likes and dislikes.

Jwala is a Commonwealth Games gold medallist and has also won the bronze medal in the women's doubles event alongside Ashwini Ponnappa at the 2011 World Championships.
