Is Ronaldo just an £80 million penalty choker?

by Jun 28, 2012

Cristiano Ronaldo is apparently Portugal’s best kick taker, and going by logic, should either have gone first or last since that is the most important spotkick of a shootout.

But with goalkeepers getting better at saving penalties, shootouts seldom go on till the last penalty or sudden death, meaning every attempt counts as much as any other.

There are various theories being discusses: should Ronaldo have gone earlier than Bruno Alves and Nani? Should he have gone first? Or was he hoping the game would be finished before his chance came?

Sadly, his chance never came. Spain finished off the game before that could happen.

Here’s how the Twitter world reacted to the incident.
