CSK 127-6 after 18.2 overs
Anirudha 18, Morkel 18
They did look like losing at one point but Morkel and Anirudha suddenly launched an assault at Rajasthan from nowhere. The bowlers had no answer as CSK score 33 runs in the last 12 balls, with the help of two sixes and four each from Morkel and Anirudha. The end though came as Tait bowled a complete howler which has gone for five wides. What a match…it may not have looked close at one stage but Rajasthan were edging closer before CSK decided it was enough and went for the big ones to comfortably reach their target in the end.
WICKET! CSK 84-6 after 16.2 overs
Ravindra Jadeja c Botha b Pankaj Singh 16 (13b, 1×4, 1×6)
And now the two-million dollar man is gone. He smacked a four through the covers in the previous ball and attempts the same this time- but a bigger one. He can’t quite clear the fielder though and is comfortably taken at long-off.
WICKET! CSK 80-5 after 16 overs
MS Dhoni c Rahane b Trivedi 10 (16b, 1×4, 0×6)
Dhoni trapped by an inviting field. There is no third-man to be seen and a shortish outside the off stump delivery is inviting for a cut-shot. He takes the bait and is caught at point. Chennai are tumbling now.
WICKET! CSK 60-3 after 12.1 overs
Michael Hussey run out 19 (32b 2×4 0×6)
Hussey goes and it was never looking like a good innings from him. He has scored at less than a run-a-ball and in order to increase that, he and Dhoni get into a mad confusion which eventually results in Hussey departing.
WICKET! CSK 57-3 after 11.2 over
Dwayne Bravo c Binny b Trivedi 10 (15b, 0×4, 0×6)
That is the third wicket taken after an attempted pull-shot in this match. Bravo sees the opportunity to punt one over the on-side but his shot is straight to square-leg. This wicket has made the match pretty exciting.
WICKET! CSK 36-2 after 6 over
Suresh Raina c Rahane b Pankaj Singh 23 (17b, 5×4, 0×6)
Raina, the man who has played every IPL match so far for the Super Kings has just played a lofted drive straight to extra-cover. Rahane takes a sharp catch to dismiss the left-hander, who was impressive until now with five brilliantly played fours to aid his team with a quick 23 runs.
WICKET! CSK 1-1 after 1 over
Murali Vijay b Watson 0 (5b, 0×4, 0×6)
Vijay loses his wicket to a beauty from Watson. The ball pitched perfectly for the batsman to lean forward and it has taken an edge straight to the keeper.
CSK come out to bat
Rajasthan 126-6 after 20 overs
Menaria 6, Yagnik 10
Two fours come in the last over to take Rajasthan to their lowest total in this year’s IPL. Yagnik cuts away one of those and the other edged over the keeper to find the ropes. CSK looking very positive as they return to the dressing rooms.
WICKET! Rajasthan 115-6 after 18.3 overs
Brad Hodge lbw b Ashwin 33 (28b, 2×4, 1×6)
Brad Hodge goes through a roller-coaster three deliveries. He tries the same shot thrice—gets dropped at the first attempt, gets six in the second and then misses the third to be adjudged LBW.
WICKET! Rajasthan 97-5 after 17.1 overs
Johan Botha b Jadeja 12 (20b, 0×4, 0×6)
The boundaries haven’t particularly flown for Rajasthan. Infact, they have scored just 10 in this innings— nine fours and a six. Botha wants to change that and attempts a slog. He misses it and the bails are flying.
Rajasthan 78-4 after 14 overs
Hodge 7, Botha 7
It has been very quiet from Rajasthan. Not a single boundary has been scored since Binny fell as Botha and Hodge try and settle down to take the innings till the last over.
WICKET! Rajasthan 65-4 after 10.2 overs
Stuart Binny c Raina b Mahesh 27 (18b, 3×4, 1×6)
Binny departs! He tries to pull one away, but the ball stops its journey at short mid-on…landing straight in the palms of Suresh Raina.
Play has resumed.
The covers are back on again…
WICKET! Rajasthan 40-3 after 8.4 overs
Ajinkya Rahane c Ashwin b Mahesh 17 (22b, 2×4, 0×6)
Rahane cannot contain his impatience anymore and goes for a big hit. He doesn’t quite time or middle it and it’s straight to Ashwin who comes running from mid-on to take it.
WICKET! Rajasthan 28-2 after 5.4 overs
Shane Watson c Ashwin b Hilfenhaus 5 (11b, 1×4, 0×6)
Watson lashes away at a delivery and it takes an outside edge to fly straight to third-man, where Ashwin came diving in to take a good catch. The third umpire was consulted on that one, but it has finally been given.
Rajasthan 20-1 after 4 overs
Watson 4, Rahane 6
Nothing really exciting on a rain-strewn night in Jaipur. Watson has played a four through the on-side as Rahane keeps it ticking on the other end with ones and twos.
The covers are off yet again. Rajasthan’s groundsmen are not yielding to the rain tonight. Play has resumed.
Well, the covers are coming on again! Keep refreshing for latest updates.
WICKET! Rajasthan 6-1 after 1.5 overs
R Dravid c Hussey b Hilfenhaus 4 (9b, 1×4, 0×6)
Rahul Dravid attempts a pull-shot and can’t quite time it well enough. Hussey takes it at mid-on. This innings not that useful from the skipper, but he has reached the milestone of 2000 runs in T20 cricket.
The covers are off and play has resumed.
Rain has stopped play after just one delivery. The score is 0-0.
