CSK 160-5 after 20 overs
Bravo 11, Jadeja 3
It’s another last ball victory in this IPL! CSK needed a big one on the last ball and Bravo launches a rocket which just clears the boundary, sending Chennai players screaming in celebration onto the pitch. Great scenes at the Edens and another memorable match!
WICKET! CSK 151-5 after 19.2 overs
MS Dhoni b Bhatia 28 (21b, 3×4, 1×6)
What a brilliant delivery from Bhatia! Looked like Shane Warne’s flipper and took out Dhoni’s stumps. But he has given some hope to his side before departing. De Lange’s previous over saw him slam two fours and a six to take this game to the wire.
WICKET! CSK 127-4 after 17.1 overs
Faf du Plessis c Tiwary b Bhatia 13 (16b, 0×4, 0×6)
Du Plessis foxed with the slower ball. He tries to slog it towards long-on and rather than clearing the boundary, finds the man.
CSK 124-3 after 15 overs
Dhoni 8, Du Plessis 11
The runs have, needless to say, slowed down a bit. There has been only one boundary since Raina fell, with skipper Dhoni getting it. Will he conjure up a match-winning innings now?
WICKET! CSK 110-3 after 12.2 overs
Suresh Raina run out 8 (10b 1×4 0×6)
Now CSK look a bit jittery. Raina’s run-out means that they need to score at least 7 runs an over to make it comfortably. What is interesting is the fact that their innings is pretty similar to that of KKR.
WICKETS! CSK 97-2 after 9.4 overs
Michael Hussey c Bhatia b Narine 56 (39b, 4×4, 4×6)
Murali Vijay b Narine 36 (24b, 5×4, 1×6)
And just like with KKR, Chennai have lost their openers in quick succession. Narine has produced two brilliant deliveries to get much-needed breakthroughs for the hosts. The second one, i.e. Vijay’s wicket was an absolute beauty.
CSK 79-0 after 8 overs
Hussey 42, Vijay 32
Brisk batting from these two and it seems only a wicket now will turn the tides for KKR. Hussey’s tally of sixes has gone to four now… as he heaves everything that comes his way. Vijay on the other end is assured in his batting, waiting for the bad ball to be dispatched for some quick runs.
CSK 45-0 after 5 overs
Hussey 20, Vijay 24
CSK are scoring almost at the same run-rate as KKR were. At this rate, they look pretty confident unless the home team can spring a few surprises and take some wickets. Hussey continues to hit the bad balls and the boundaries are flowing.
CSK 16-0 after 2 overs
Hussey 11, Vijay 4
The sixes and fours account has quickly opened for CSK. Hussey has pulled one away for six just after he had pierced the gap at mid-wicket.
CSK come out to bat
KKR 158-6 after 20 overs
Das 19, Bhatia 1
No last over drama for KKR as Shukla’s six is the only boundary which Hilfenhaus gives away. The home team were looking certain for a bigger score before the wickets of Gambhir and McCullum applied the handbrake on the run-flow.
WICKET! KKR 156-6 after 19.3 overs
Laxmi Shukla c Raina b Hilfenhaus 9 (6b, 0×4, 1×6)
KKR have scored some quick runs as Das takes on the bowlers, scoring two fours and a six before Shukla hooks away another maximum. But he can’t control his whipped shot towards extra-cover where Raina takes a fine catch.
WICKETS! KKR 128-5 after 17.2 overs
Manoj Tiwary c Bravo b Jadeja 12 (14b, 1×4, 0×6)
Yousuf Pathan c Bravo b Ashwin 11 (8b, 0×4, 1×6)
The Yousuf disaster continues. It’s as simple a T20 wicket can get… Pathan swats it straight to long-on. After that, Tiwary gets a top-edge and Bravo is waiting for it in the deep. KKR were looking so good at one point and are reeling now.
WICKET! KKR 111-3 after 14.4 overs
Jacques Kallis c Ashwin b Jakati 4 (9b, 0×4, 0×6)
Kallis attempts a clever reverse sweep and finds himself fooled. Replays show that the ball did not catch his glove or bat, but the umpire has raised the finger the South African is walking.
WICKET! KKR 100-2 after 12.1 overs
Gautam Gambhir b Jakati 62 (43b, 6×4, 3×6)
Gambhir misses out on an innings which could have resulted in a really big score for him. He charges down the track and the skidding delivery takes a bit of his pad before finding the stumps.
WICKET! KKR 99-1 after 11.3 overs
Brendon McCullum run out 37 (29b, 4×4, 1×6)
McCullum is run out for a solid innings of 37 runs.
KKR 96-0 after 11 overs
Gambhir 60, McCullum 35
These two are incessant in their quest for runs. McCullum shows what is real hobby is… thumping sixes. Gambhir meanwhile has taken every opportunity to unleash his bat. He caresses a boundary past the keeper to enter his sixties.
KKR 72-0 after 8 overs
Gambhir 49, McCullum 25
Fireworks at the Eden Gardens! Gambhir has slammed two sixes and two fours in the last three overs, taking him just one run away from another IPL fifty. McCullum, who has a penchant for throwing his wicket away has stuck around with some careful shots, but the boundaries are coming for him too.
KKR 38-0 after 5 overs
Gambhir 25, McCullum 13
Ashwin the spinner has gone for fewer runs compared to the impressive Hilfenhaus. But both batsmen seem to have taken a liking to him, smashing the Aussie for a six and a four towards the on-side. Gambhir looks in a very aggressive mood and this could be another good innings from him.
KKR 13-0 after 2 overs
Gambhir 5, McCullum 7
Both batsmen have scored a four each, with Gambhir cutting one past square-leg, before McCullum flicks one away to mid-wicket.
