IPL 6 as it happened: Royal Challengers dominate Royals at home

2302 IST

Tiwary in a hurry to finish things off. Smacks Trivedi for two fours in three balls, the second one he charged the bowler and smashed him to deep midwicket. Just bounced inside the rope. Also brings up the 50 partnership.

SIX! Gayle finishes off the match with his first six of the innings. Trivdei is flat batted back over his head and over the sight screen. RCB have won by 7 wickets and go top of the table. This has been a dominant performance by Bangalore and might have made them the team to beat in this tournament.

That's it from us. Thanks for reading.

2256 IST

Chandila into his last over. Gayle happy to play the sweep for singles nad twos. After 17, RR are 108/3.

2253 IST

Faulkner comes on to bowl the 16th. RCB cruising now. No collapse for Royal Challengers this time. After 16 overs, RCB are 102/3.

2246 IST

SIX! Tiwary decides he can't keep milking Chandila and smacks him straight over his head. After 15 overs, RCB are 98/2. Just 20 needed now.

2246 IST

Trivedi concedes five runs from his over. RCB now 90/3 after 14 overs.

Chandila comes on. Only his second over. RCB don't need to take any risks so they are content with three singles. After 13 overs, RCB are 85/3.

2235 IST

Tait comes back and but is still searching for his line. Down legside and four more to RCB. Tait is loose down legside again with the last ball and Gayle helps himself to four more. After 11 overs, RCB are 79/3, with Gayle on 29 and Tiwary on 1.

2229 IST

Trivedi comes on and starts with a couple of wides. RR can't afford that with such a small target. Saurabh Tiwary is the new man, by the way. In the end, Trivedi gives away just three runs. After 10, RCB are 67/3. More than half-way to their target.

2223 IST

AB de Villiers is the new man.

OUT! Watson has another. de Villiers gives Watson the charge and tries to go inside out but can't keep it on the ground and Chandila at mid-off takes a good, low catch to his left. RCB suddenly 64/3 after 9 overs.

AB de Villiers c Chandila b Watson 7 (8b 1x4 0x6)

There was no need for that shot, having hit Watson for four the ball before and with a required-rate less than a run-a-ball. Senseless cricket from AB.

2218 IST

OUT! Faulkner bowls the slower one from the back of the hand and it breaks into Kohli, like a legbreak. Big gap between bat and pad and it takes the inside edge onto the stumps.

Kohli b Faulkner 1 (4b 0x4 0x6).

After 8 overs, RCB are 58/2.

2214 IST

Faulkner continues. Virat Kohli is the new man.

2212 IST

We have a Shane Watson sighting with the ball. First delivery is full and wide and Gayle is happy to drive him over the offside for four and bring up the team's 50.

OUT! Watson gets the breakthrough. Good length and moved just a bit. Got a thin edge and simple catch to the keeper. RCB are 53/1 after 6.4 0vers.

Dilshan c †Yagnik b Watson 25 (22b 5x4 0x6)

Good over from Faulkner, just two from it. After 6, RCB are 48/0.

2203 IST

Tait too short and Dilshan took powerfully to the square leg boundary. That was a sharp bouncer but Dilshan was on top of it instantly and the ball rocketed away. Then a huge wide from Tait that runs away for four. Tait too straight and again and four leg-byes this time. 15 from the over. After 5, RCB are 46/0.

2158 IST

Faulkner into the attack. Bit of comedy from Chandial. Dilshan turns a slower delivery to leg and Chandila sticks his hand out for the man on the boundary to field the ball before realising there is no man on the boundary and turns and gives chase, but in vain.

Then the fielder at point misses a Dilshan cut that goes for another four. 10 from the over. After 4, RCB are 31/0.

2152 IST

Tait into the attack but is wayward to start with. One wide outside off, one down the legside. In between Gayle crashes him through the covers. Eight from the over. After 3, RCB are 21/0.

2148 IST

Sreesanth keeps the pressure on for 4 deliveries, before Dilshan ends the second over with two boundaries as Sreesanth's line is too straight. After 2 overs, RCB are 13/0

Royals open the bowling with Chandila again and once again the batsmen aren't sure how to play him. Just four from the over.

2126 IST

OUT! Royals are bowled out for 117. Trivedi makes room and thrusts his bat at a short ball. The edge flies to RP Singh at third man. RP Singh, by the way, finished with 3 for 13. That explains what he is doing in the team.

2123 IST

It has all gone pear shaped since Dravid was out. Over the last 5 overs, RR are 28/6.

After 19 overs, they are 114/9.

2120 IST

OUT! Tait is cleaned up by RP Singh. Makes room to go over the offside and misses the full toss. RR now 112/9.

2118 IST

OUT! Royals in freefall here. Vinay Kumar gets in a perfect yorker that hits Sreesanth on the foot in front of leg stump. He goes for a duck.

Sreesanth lbw b Vinay Kumar 0 (2b 0x4 0x6)

RR are 112/8 after 18 overs. Vinay Kumar finishes with 3-18 and is back to being the purple cap holder.

2114 IST

OUT! Two in the over for RP. Yagnik tries to muscle a full delivery over mid-off but fails. Rampaul takes his third catch of the innings. Royals collapsing here. Now 110/7 after 17 overs.

Yagnik c Rampaul b Singh 5 (4b 1x4 0x6).

2112 IST

OUT! RP Singh has a wicket. Rampaul takes a good catch, diving forward at long-on. RR now 108/6 after 16.3 overs.

Faulkner c Rampaul b Singh 3 (7b 0x4 0x6).

2106 IST

OUT! Hodge begins the 16th over by driving Vinay Kumar through the covers but the next ball tries to run a short delivery to third man but guides it into the keeper's gloves instead. Big blow for RR.

Hodge c †Arun Karthik b Vinay Kumar 13 (17b 1x4 0x6).

After 16 overs, RR are 108/5.

2104 IST

Karthik to finish off now.

OUT! Dravid goes trying to force the pace. Clears the front foot and tries to cart a full delivery over long-on but doesn't get all of it. Rampaul takes an easy catch.

Dravid c Rampaul b Kartik 35 (31b 5x4 0x6).

Yagnik wastes no time heaving Karthik to the midwicket boundary and bring up the 100 for Royals. After 15 overs, RR are 101/4.

2055 IST

Unadkat into his final over. Dravid tries heave him over square but is fooled by the slower ball and is lucky not to be bowled. But then plays a powerful straight drive past the bowlers, stumps and a diving de Villiers on the boundary. Nine from the over. After 14, RR are 90/3.

2052 IST

Muarli Karthik into his third over. Dravid goes back and punches him past midwicket with enough power to beat the man on the rope. Just seven off the over in the end though. After 13, RR are 81/3, with Dravid on 22 and Hodge on 6.

2049 IST

Unadkat returns. AT 38, it is not often that Hodge is the younger batsman in the middle, but he is here. Another good over for RCB. After 12, RR are 74/3. They need to think about when to start going after the bowling and which bowler to target.

Brad Hodge is the new batsman. Karthik gets through a much better over without Binny to deal with, just four from it. RR 70/3 after 11 overs.

2042 IST

OUT! Vinay Kumar has the final say. Bowls a shorter, faster bouncer and Binny can't resist going for the pull again. This time he is in no position though and gets a top edge and rises high over the keeper, who runs back and takes a good catch over his shoulder three-quarters of the way to the boundary. RR now 66/3 after 10 overs.

Binny c †Arun Karthik b Vinay Kumar 33 (20b 4x4 1x6).

2037 IST

Vinay starts off with a short ball and Binny happy to pull him over midwicket. Two Karnataka boys in the middle now.

2037 IST

Spin after the time out. Murali Karthik comes on. Binny plays a glorious cover drive. Couple of steps down the track and goes inside out and wide of the man on the rope. That was superb timing and placement. Brings up RR's 50 from 8.2 overs. Kohli has now put another man in the covers.

SIX! Doesn't matter because Binny moves around the crease, Karthik strays down leg and is swept powerfully over the rope. There is a fielder there but it rocketed over him. RR starting to motor now. 13 from the over. after 9, they are 60/2.

2032 IST

Binny is showing good touch. Makes some room and crashes a good-length delivery from Unadkat through cover. Dravid also gets in the act, finally beating the man at midwicket with the pull. Excellent over for RR. 13 from it. After 8, RR are 47/2 and it is time for the strategic time out. Dravid is on 12 and Binny on 15.

2027 IST

Vinay Kumar replaces Rampaul. Binny and Dravid need to steady the innings now. You can always make up for a slow start with a big finish.

Dravid tries to pull Vinay Kumar but can't find the gap. After 7 overs, RR are 34/2.

2023 IST

OUT! Soft dismissal. Unadkat bowls the slower ball wide outside off and Rahane can't resist the drive. But he is nowhere near the pitch of the ball and it flies off the edge to Dilshan at point. RR in trouble now at 26/2 after 5.2 overs.

Binny crashes Unadkat through the covers to get off the mark. After 6 overs, RR are 31/2.

2020 IST

Rampaul continues for a third over. Dravid gets off the mark with a slightly mistimed on-drive past the mid-on fielder. Struck the inner half of the bat, which turned in Dravid's hands. He seems to be trying to hit the ball too hard. Gavaskar says the ball is not coming on to the bat as the batsman expects.

SIX! Rahane changes the tempo. Rampaul is short and outside off and Rahane plays a horizontal bat shot over long-off. That was crunched. After 5 overs, RR are 25/1.

2016 IST

Rahane drives RP Singh over mid-on for four but those are the only runs from the over. After 4, RR are 14/1.

2012 IST

Rahul Dravid walks out to another huge ovation. Doesn't get off the mark though. Wicket-maiden for Rampaul. After 3, RR are 10/1.

2010 IST

OUT! Watson crashes the offdrive but doesn't get the elevation. Murali Karthik times his jump perfectly at mid-off and manages to hold on with both hands. RR are 10/1 after 2.2 overs.

Watson c Kartik b Rampaul 6 (9b 1x4 0x6).

2007 IST

RP Singh somehow keeps getting a game. He opens the bowling from the other end.

Watson hares off for a very quick single to mid-wicket and has to put in the full length dive. Kohli knocks down the stumps but Watson is home. Rahane is all grace as he punches RP off the back foot through the offside cordon. After 2 overs, RR are 10/0.

2003 IST

Rampaul will start proceedings for the home side. Full house at the Chinnaswamy tonight. If Royals beat RCB in Bangalore, it will make a big statement about their title credentials. Watson starts with a boundary, clipping Rampaul to fine leg. Too straight to start.

Gets it right the rest of the overs. Just one more from it. After 1, RR are 5/0.

1944 IST

Here are the playing XIs:

Royals: Watson, Rahane, Dravid, Binny, Hodge, Yagnik, Faulkner, Chandila, Trivedi, Tait, Sreesanth.

RCB: Dilshan, Gayle, Kohli, de Villiers, Tiwary, Arun Karthik, Rampaul, Vinay Kumar, M Karthik, RP Singh, Unadkat.

Whichever team wins this game will go to the top of the table because they will have a better net run-rate than Sunrisers Hyderabad.

1930 IST

Rahul Dravid gets a huge cheer from the crowd at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Dravid calls tails but it come up heads. Kohli decides RCB will bowl first. Dravid thinks it is a good wicket and they would probably have bowled first too.

Dilshan is back for RCB. Sreesanth and Tait in for Royals, so they are banking on pace in this game.

1925 IST

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of today's second game.

Rajasthan Royals have a tough task against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bangalore. RCB are undefeated in the four matches they have played at home this season, and will be counting on the home field advantage against a Royals side that beat Mumbai Indians by a record margin on Wednesday.

Except for the loss against the underdogs Pune Warriors, the Royals have won their matches comfortably, including against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. With a massive 86-run win against the Mumbai Indians at home on Wednesday, the Royals, the title winners in the inaugural IPL season, have once again confounded expectations.

One thing that separates the two teams though is the performance of their Indian players. For Royals, Ajinkya Rahane, Dravid, S Sreesanth and Sidharth Trivedi have been the most successful batsmen and bowlers in the tournament so far.

The home fans at the Chinnaswamy Stadium would be eager to watch the battle between Gayle and temperamental Sreesanth, who is expected to take the field tomorrow for the first time after reopening the ‘slapgate’ wounds with his explosive tweets.
