N Srinivasan, the BCCI president, said yesterday that his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was simply a “young [cricket] enthusiast” who associated with the team, while an India Cements press release on Friday said that Meiyappan was not team principal as he claimed on his Twitter account, but merely an honorary member of CSK team management. However, Meiyappan has been an active participant at team auctions since 2009 and given interviews to the press as team principal. Now the Times of India has revealed an email from IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla dated 24 December 2011 that was sent to the various team owners inviting them to the annual workshop that lists Meiyappan as one of the recipients. This session is aimed to create a platform for only owners and IPL to interact and share thoughts to help build a successful league. From BCCI, along with me, the Office Bearers will join in the round table.” You can read the full story here.
