Accused of molestation, Pomersbach gets interim bail for a day

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player Luke Pomersbach was granted an interim bail till tomorrow in a case where he is accused of molestation and assault.

The cricketer was arrested today for allegedly molesting a woman from the US and beating up her fiance at a Delhi five-star hotel.

Pomersbach, who had his arm in a sling, was produced in a Delhi court where he reportedly collapsed during court proceedings. The police has asked for time to present evidence in the case and the court granted the cricketer interim bail. He was granted bail on a surety of Rs 20,000.

The incident reportedly happened after the Delhi Daredevils-Royal Challengers Bangalore match on Thursday evening.

The victim, a US national, was allegedly molested by Pomersbach at her room in a Delhi hotel. The victim claimed that she was threatened by IPL players to drop the case. She pleaded with the government of India to help her in the matter.

Pomersbach was earlier taken to the RML hospital for a medical examination.

The cricketer is being provided with consular assistance from the Australian embassy in New Delhi.

A case under Sections 354, 323, 454 and 511 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the cricketer.
