  • 23:34 (IST)

That's it from us at Firstpost. Teams chasing have won 12 out of 13 times in the tournament so far. Let's see if the trend takes a break in tomorrow's match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday. Till then, goodnight!

  • 23:32 (IST)

Uthappa (Man of the Match): I was a little rusty behind the wickets at the start of the tournament, but happy to get better and better. Happy with the way I'm batting as well. It's important to create momentum at the start of the tournament. With Gautam and I, we share a good chemistry and understand each other really well. If he gets going, it's my job to rotate the strike. The camaraderie between us is really good.

  • 23:30 (IST)

Gambhir (KKR skipper): We were pretty professional. Robin made the chase look really easy. I think theres always room for improvement. As a bowling unit, we have worked really hard. I dont think we need to change a lot, and we need to continue the good work. We've not made many changes, and we've trusted our players a lot. Unless you give them the security, they wont be able to express themselves.

We wanted to ease him in the competition. We don't want to burden him. Once he gets the confidence, we know how lethal he can be. The way he bowled today, he should get a lot of confidence.

  • 23:20 (IST)

Miller (KXIP skipper): Always very disappointing. Lost too many wickets and missed a few chances. If I can (point out the one mistake in our performance), I'd be the best coach!

Greetings! Welcome to Firstpost's live coverage of the 13th match of the ongoing ninth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday.

Will Punjab look back at their performance against Rising Pune Supergiants for inspiration, and defeat KKR? Or will the Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata get their third win of the tournament, and displace Gujarat Lions from the top? Stay tuned to find out more.

PREVIEW: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) would want to secure their second win on the trot when they host Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) game at Mohali on Tuesday.

However, it will not be easy to topple the men in purple who dominated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their last encounter. KKR won the game quite convincingly with Gautam Gambhir contributing an unbeaten 90 in their quest for a total of 142 for seven.

Prior to that, KKR had lost against Mumbai Indians narrowly and in their opener they had overwhelmed Delhi Daredevils at the Eden Gardens.

The Kings themselves did not have a kingly start to their campaign as they came out second best in their first two games. At the start, they lost to Gujarat Lions by five wickets and then were beaten by Delhi Daredevils by eight wickets.

However, on Sunday, Punjab stunned Mahendra Singh Dhoni led Pune Rising Supergiants by six wickets. The win would immensely boost their confidence ahead of the KKR tie.

The Mohali track is supposedly flat and is likely to assist the batters. The game is likely to be a high scoring one and Punjab would once again want their top order to fire.

In their last game, openers Manan Vohra and Murali Vijay knit a 97-run partnership to set up the chase. Glenn Maxwell has also found form but captain David Miller and Shaun Marsh need to pull their socks up.

The bowling lineup is a bit inexperienced with Sandeep Sharma and Kyle Abbott leading the pace attack and they have leaked a lot of runs so far. KKR would want to capitalise on this weakness.

For the Knights it will be about their bowling who have managed to keep a tight leash on the opposition batsmen in two of the three matches played.

The batting looks good too with Gambhir and Robin Uthappa in form upfront. Manish Pandey has some runs under his belt also but the likes of Yusuf Pathan, in the middle order, need to improve.
