Single off the fifth. SIX! Bipul finishes the over with a massive straight six! This is some unbelievable batting by the left-arm spinner! 19 off Bravo's last over! Kaushik is introduced in the first over after powerplay, with the spinners barely giving anything away at this stage. The chinaman concedes just three off his first, with the pressure starting to mount on Hyderabad now.

BOOM! Warner takes off his helmet, and muscles the first ball fo the next over — bowled by Raina — for a straight hit! Moves into the 30s with the strike! FOUR AGAIN! Quicker one from Raina in the penultimate ball, and a misfield by Tye at cover gives Warner his sixth boundary of the innings.

Kaushik gets rid of Yuvraj in the first ball of the following over. The southpaw, under pressure to boost the run-rate, looks to loft towards long-off, but doesn't get enough distance, as Smith takes a simple catch near the boundary! SRH need 101 to win from 66 balls.

Another four in the over, with Warner getting a thick outside-edge for the ball to run away towards the third man boundary! 10 runs and a wicket in the fifth over.

It's the captain himself who elects to bowl the final over of powerplay, and he starts off on an economical note, conceding just three off his first. SRH reach 46/2 at the end of powerplay, eight more than their opponents after having lost as many wickets. Need another 117 to win from 84 balls.

  • 22:23 (IST)

OUT! Smith strikes in his first delivery of the day, and that too with a bad delivery. Short and wide, Henriques looks to clear extra-cover, but instead finds Dwivedi at the position! Departs for 11 off six, as SRH lose their second wicket with 33 on board.

Finch explodes in the next over, smashing two fours and a six — two of them coming off powerful pulls — with a total of 17 runs coming off the over. Brings up the 100 as well for the batting side.

Some brilliant piece of fielding by Cutting in the following over saves five runs for the Sunrisers! Finch miscued his pull off Sran, but got enough distance to clear the ropes. Cutting leaps just inside the midwicket boundary, catches the ball and throws it back in mid-air. Finch ends the 15th over with a boundary nevertheless, squeezing the full-pitched final delivery past short third man to move to 35.

  • 21:15 (IST)

OUT! And the wickets are starting to tumble for Gujarat now! Back of length delivery outside off from Cutting, Smith cuts it towards deep cover-point, where Dhawan holds on to the simplest of chances. Departs for 1, as Gujarat collapse to 83/5.

    After 12 overs,Gujarat Lions 81/4 ( Aaron Finch 14 , )

Finch gets off the mark in his fourth delivery with a powerful pull towards backward square-leg, where there is a fielder stationed. Gujarat reach 67/3 at the halfway mark in their innings, and the scoring rate certainly needs to catch up if they are to keep their hopes of facing RCB in the final alive.

Gets his first boundary in the following over by Sran with a similar shot, before lofting the second ball off the middle of the bat for the ball to disappear over long-off. Terrible start!

    After 3 overs,Gujarat Lions 19/1 ( Brendon McCullum 11 , Suresh Raina (C) 1)

In a rather unique move, Eklavya Dwivedi walks out to bat for Gujarat Lions alongside usual opener Brendon McCullum. The youngster, who scored 19 quick runs in the previous qualifier against RCB, hammers a four towards third man, before getting caught by Boult in the same region off a short one from Bhuvneshwar to depart for 5 at the end of the over.

The next over is a fruitful one for the batting team, with Brendon McCullum smashing fellow Kiwi Trent Boult, who gets to bowl his first over of the tournament, for two boundaries to get started. Just three runs in Bhuvi's second over of the day.

  • 20:13 (IST)

  • 20:07 (IST)

OUT! Dwivedi's stint at the top of the Gujarat batting order lasts just five balls. Dwivedi falls for it, and gets caught by Boult at third-man to depart for five. Gujarat lose their first wicket with just seven on board!

New Delhi: Gujarat Lions will look to extend their impressive debut campaign when they face Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are also eyeing their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) final berth, in the second qualifier in New Delhi on Friday.

Gujarat topped the league stage and were pipped by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first qualifier by six wickets. But they will join RCB in the final if they beat Hyderabad at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium.

Hyderabad, who finished fourth in the league standings, shrugged off two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday at Feroz Shah Kotla by 22 runs.

The Sunrisers franchise, playing in the IPL since 2013, is yet to reach the final of the IPL and come Friday, it will get a good chance. They defeated Gujarat in both the matches in the league phase and those victories, due to the success of the bowlers, will give them a mental edge coming into Friday's contest.

Led superbly by David Warner, Hyderabad are a batting heavy team with the Australian captain (686 runs) and Shikhar Dhawan (473 runs) both featuring in the top-10 run-getters in this edition.

Gujarat need to get rid of them as quickly as possible to have an early impact on the game.

Veteran Yuvraj Singh has contributed in bits and pieces but the 30-ball 44 he scored on Wednesday will give him confidence. A lot will also depend on Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson and youngster Deepak Hooda, who form the middle order, must contribute if the Sunrisers fancy a chance to beat Gujarat.

In the bowling department, Mustafizur Rahman (16 wickets) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (21 wickets) have ensured that Hyderabad don't bemoan the absence of veteran pacer Ashish Nehra, who underwent a right knee surgery in London on Tuesday.

Uttar Pradesh medium pacer Bhuvneshwar and Bangladesh left-armer Mustafizur have not only picked up wickets at crucial times, but have also kept a check on the run flow. Punjab left-armer Barinder Sran has tried his best to fill in for Nehra.

"The bowlers have shown fantastic appetite. The experience of injured (Ashish) Nehra was a big miss for us. His experience is second to none. But the guys have stepped up," Warner told reporters after the win over Kolkata.

"Barinder Sran has been bowling really well. He is still learning and big credit goes to Bhuvneswar Kumar because he has been helping him (Sran) a lot day in and day out. That's the good thing about this team that everyone is willing to learn."

The weak link in the bowling department is the spin duo of Karn Sharma and Bipul Sharma. But skipper Warner will hope that the seamers will again rise to the occasion.

Warner is aware of the dangermen in his rival's camp. One feature of Gujarat's campaign is that the contribution comes from every quarter.

The batting will centre around West Indian Dwayne Smith (323 runs), former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum (322), Australian Aaron Finch (343 runs) and skipper Suresh Raina (398 runs).

Stumper Dinesh Karthik (309 runs) and all-rounders Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja will add enough firepower in the lower order.

"We know who their key players are. We know they have got very good firing power. Dwayne Smith has been playing very well. Their openers are going to come hard," Warner said.

"For us it's about starting well as a unit whether we bat or bowl first. We need to make sure that we execute our plans."

The bowling department has the likes of medium pacer Dhawal Kulkarni (18 wickets), who has been a revelation in this edition, Praveen Kumar (9 wickets) and Bravo (15 wickets). Left-arm spinner Jadeja has also contributed with eight wickets so far.

Other spin options are chinaman bowler Shivil Kaushik and left-arm spinner Shadab Jakati.

With the Kotla pitch being a two-pace wicket, Kaushik may play a prominent role for Gujarat to contain the left-handed batsmen in the Hyderabad camp.
