India’s Olympics medal hope Deepika Kumari crashes out

World No.1 archer Deepika Kumari was shown the door by local hope Amy Oliver in her opening elimination tie at the London Olympics here Wednesday, ending India’s challenge in the competition.

Deepika lost the knock-out affair 2-6, failing to score a single ten pointer.

This is how the match went.

1st set: Deepika scored an 8, 9 and a 9  and Oliver an 8, 10 and a 9. Deepika lost 27-26.

2nd set: Deepika scored a 9, 8 and a 9 and Oliver scored a 9, 9 and a 4. Deepika won 26-22.

3rd set: Deepika scored an 8, 9 and a 9= 26 and Oliver scored three 9s to take the set 27-26.

4th set: Deepika scored an 8,9 and a 9 as and Oliver trounced her with an 8,10 and a 10 to win the set 28-26

Team GB won the match 6-2. However, Amy Oliver lost her very next round to Indonesia’s Yuliana Ika.
