India vs West Indies 2017, 3rd ODI highlights: Visitors complete resounding victory, go 2-0 in the series
  • 02:47 (IST)

India go 2-0 with two more to play. We might see few new faces from the Indian camp in the 4th ODI, where India will be looking to win the series. While, for the Windies, they will have to go back to the drawing board, reassess and bounce back quickly. The next ODI is on Sunday at the same venue, till then buh-bye. Hope to see you during the next game.

  • 02:38 (IST)

  • 02:34 (IST)

  • 02:32 (IST)

MS Dhoni has now won three Man of the Match awards in ODIs in West Indies which is the most by an Indian player and the joint most by a wicket-keeper in ODIs in West Indies.

  • 02:31 (IST)

Dhoni: It is like wine (On getting better with age). The top order has been doing the bulk of the scoring, it feels good to go out there and get some runs. Personally, I had 250 in my mind. It is important to guide Kuldeep for the first 5-10 games then he will learn.

  • 02:29 (IST)

MS Dhoni is adjudged the Man of the Match for his unbeaten 78 off 79 balls and one stumping.

  • 02:28 (IST)

Kohli: I think it was a very clinical performance. It was good toss to for the Windies. When we needed the wickets, the two spinners stepped up. We will look into it (team changes for the upcoming games). There are players who haven't had a game.

  • 02:25 (IST)

Holder: I thought the bowlers did a good job, one criticism was at the back end of the innings, in the last overs. We have to come hard (remaining games) We have to obviously adjust our batting.

  • 02:22 (IST)

The spinners took 7 wickets between them, Umesh got the first breakthrough and Hardik dismissed the Hope brothers. Their were couple of partnerships between Kyle and Shai and Powell and Mohammed but some irresponsible shots and tight bowling, meant India never let the game loose from their grasp.

  • 02:18 (IST)

Another clinical performance by the Men in Blue. The late blitz by MS Dhoni and Kedhar Jadhav ensured the momentum reamained with India during the break and the Indian bowlers kept taking wickets right from the start of Windies' innings. There were moments in the match, where Windies could have pressed and applied themselves, but the hosts didn't captalise on key moments and ended up losing by 93 runs.

  • 02:17 (IST)

Indian spinners took seven wickets in this match which is the most by them in an ODI in West Indies. They picked up four wickets each in two different ODIs in West Indies before today.

  • 02:11 (IST)

Jadhav comes into the attack and bowls a beauty to end the innings, gets some drift and hits the top of off, Williams dismissed for 1 run on debut. India win by 93 runs and take an unassailable lead (2-0) in 5-match series with 2 to play.

Ashwin finishes his spell for 3 wickets too. Spinners share 3 wickets apiece. The senior pro went for lesser runs, 28 compared to Kuldeep's 41. India one wicket away.

  • 02:06 (IST)

Ravichandran Ashwin becomes the second fastest Indian spinner to take 150 wickets in ODIs. Anil Kumble is the fastest who achieved the feat in 106 ODIs.

  • 02:06 (IST)

OUT! Cummins hangs back and Ashwin bowls it quicker through the air and traps the batsmen in his crease. Umpire raises his finger, giving Ashwin his 150th ODI wicket. Second quickest Indian to achieve the feat.

    After 36 overs,West Indies 153/7 ( Jason Mohammed 39 , Devendra Bishoo 2)

Ashwin goes round the wicket to Bishoo and appeals for lbw, but the Umpire calls it 'not out' and the replay confirmed it would have stayed with umpire's call if it had been reviewed. Ashwin finishes another tidy over. 2 off it. 27 off his 9 overs.

    Bishoo is the new man.

  • 01:51 (IST)

    After 34 overs,West Indies 148/7 ( Jason Mohammed 36 , )

Ashwin's over costs 7 runs but the offie gets his second wicket in Ashley Nurse.

  • 01:51 (IST)

West Indies are the only team from which no batsman has scored 1,000-plus runs in ODIs among top-10 nations post ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

  • 01:50 (IST)

OUT! Nurse taking too many chances as tries to heave over mid wicket but doesn't get hold off it. The bat swivels in his hands and the ball connects with only the inner part of the blade as the ball goes towards the square leg fielder, who dives forward and sideways to complete a good catch.

  • 01:48 (IST)

FOUR! Flight and Nurse goes after it. Over the bowler and to right off mid off fielder. Good shot first up!

  • 01:42 (IST)

    After 32 overs,West Indies 141/5 ( Jason Mohammed 36 , Rovman Powell 30)

Ashwin completes his 7th over and goes only for 3 runs. He is bowling quicker through the air unlike Kuldeep, who doesn't mind tossing it up. Has been miser in his spell only 18 so far.

Jadhav comes into the attack and bowls a beauty to end the innings, gets some drift and hits the top of off, Williams dismissed for 1 run on debut. India win by 93 runs and take an unassailable lead (2-0) in 5-match series with 2 to play.

Preview: After the wash-out in the opening match, the hosts failed to match the men-in-blue, falling to a massive loss in the second game.

Ahead of the third game, the Windies strengthened their line-up with the addition of two new batsmen in Kyle Hope and wicketkeeper-batsman Sunil Ambris.

Barring Shai Hope, who struck 81 runs and looked to pull out a fight chasing 311 runs in the previous ODI, none of the other batsmen -- Evin Lewis (21), Jason Holder (29), Roston Chase (33 not out) -- succeeded in converting their starts.

Among the bowlers, off-spinner Ashley Nurse managed to test the famed Indian line-up to a certain extent. Nurse returned with figures of 1/38 in his nine-over spell, bowling at an economy of 4.22 runs per over.

Pacer Alzarri Joseph (2/73), Miguel Cummins (1/57) and medium-pacer Jason Holder (1/76) will look to bowl economically after giving away too many runs in the previous match.

On the other hand, the visitors will look to play their natural game, having found it easy to score runs against the hosts.

The batting line-up featuring the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni will look to demolish the Windies bowling.

Skipper Kohli also hinted at including rookie keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant for the third match, which may result in Yuvraj or Dhoni warming the bench.

Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav (3/50) tormented the hosts well and will once again be Kohli's go-to bowler during the middle overs.
