Aug 14, 2012

Salgaocar have signed in Australia’s young striker Sean Daniel Rooney to complete their foreign quota of four players.

Sean has previously played for A-League teams like Sydney FC (youth team) and Newcastle Jets.

He scored on his debut in the A-League with Newcastle Jets in 2009 and also took them into the second round of the 2009 AFC Champions League with a late win against Beijing Guoan.

23-year old Sean was the leading scorer in the Australian National Youth League of 2008 and has earned three caps in U-20 World Cup held in 2009.

“Sean, who has been training with the team for a week, has impressed Salgaocar’s coach Karim Bencherifa with his skills, technique and a deft scoring touch in which he has scored in all the three friendly matches he has played,” said Bencherifa.

Salgaocar’s other foreign players include Brazilian captain Luciano Soborosa, Quinton Jacobs and former HAL striker Hamza.
