The 2012 FIFA-FIFPro world all-star team announced Monday, as voted on by more than 50,000 players. And in what may come as a surprise to some, all the players in the XI play in the La Liga. Barcelona and Real Madrid dominated the team with 5 members each. Radamel Falcao of Atletico Madrid was the only non Barca or Madrid player to get into the team.
The FIFPro World XI is a prize from the players for the players, with FIFPro inviting all professional footballers in the world to compose their best team of the year.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas was elected goal-keeper. Sergio Ramos (Madrid), Marcelo (Madrid), Dani Alves (Barca) and Gerard Pique (Barca) make up the defense.
The midfield consists of Xabi Alonso (Madrid), as well as Spain and Barcelona team-mates Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
The forward line, unsurprisingly, has Cristiano Ronaldo (Madrid) and Barca ace Lionel Messi, with Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao completing the side.
