Copa America: Gerard Pique confident Lionel Messi 'will get over' Argentina heartache

Paris: Lionel Messi’s Barcelona teammate Gerard Pique insists the Argentine will get over the disappointment of losing a fourth international final, which provoked Messi to quit international football. Messi, 29, left the field in tears on Sunday after blasting a penalty over the bar as Chile beat Argentina in a shootout to win the Copa America. I know the same as everyone else. I suppose that it was a very hard blow for him to take last night,” said Pique, after suffering international disappointment of his own as Italy beat Spain 2-0 at Euro 2016 on Monday. “I know how competitive he is and he will get over it as he has many times before.” Messi has won 28 trophies with Barcelona and been crowned world player of the year five times. However, he has never tasted success with Argentina at a major international tournament having also lost in the finals of 2007 and 2015 Copa America and the 2014 World Cup.
