Five-time World Champion Mary Kom started her London campaign with a bang after beating Poland’s Karolina Michalczuk 19-14 in only the second women’s boxing match in Olympics history. After a close first round which ended at 3-3, Mary Kom took the fight to her opponent and closely outfought her opponent 5-4 in the second round. But the Indian had found her rhythm by then and went on the attack in the third round, comprehensively winning it 7-3 and going into the final round with a lead of 15-10. The fourth round ended 4-4 too, but the bout had been won and Mary Kom will now play Maroua Rahali of Tunisia in the 51kg category quarterfinal at 6.30 PM on August 6th.
