The murder case of Oscar Pistorius’ girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp who was shot dead on Valentine’s Day by the Paralympic star at his home in Pretoria has witnessed another gruesome twist. According to a local paper, City Press, the police have now found a bloody cricket bat in his house, which might now be used as evidence against him. According to AFP which also reported the story later on, “Police sources close to the investigation told the City Press newspaper that Steenkamp’s skull had been “crushed”. The City Press’ detailed report on the story is not available online. “There was lots of blood on the bat,” one source told the paper, says the AFP report. AP[/caption] The City Press report which is online, states that “Three sources close to the investigation ruled out the possibility that Pistorius could have mistaken Steenkamp for an intruder as there were no signs of forced entry. Meanwhile the South Africa police have denied leaking the new information about the murder case to the press. Oscar Pistorius was charged with the murder of Steenkamp after she was shot dead at the home of the Paralympic champion on Valentine’s Day. South African prosecutors have said they will pursue a more serious premeditated murder charge against the 26-year-old Pistorius, possibly leaving him facing a life sentence.
