The scorecard might say a comfortable win for India. But it was a gripping contest. India bowlers did well to bundle out Pakistan for just 83. None of the Pakistan batsman wanted looked to build a partnership and played rash shots which brought about their downfall. Pakistan came out fighting as Amir wreaked havoc removing India's top order inside first three over. But Kohli played a gritty knock and took it away from Pakistan, Yuvraj struggled to connect the ball but he gave the crucial support to Kohli. Once the movement vanished, the India batsmen felt at ease. 2 wins in 2 matches for India so far in Asia Cup......

  • 21:59 (IST)

That's it! India win by 5 wickets!

A touch wide from Wahab, Dhoni cracks it through point for a boundary.

  • 21:58 (IST)

    Wahab continues.....

  • 21:58 (IST)

    After 15 overs, India 80/5 ( Yuvraj 14, Dhoni 3)

A successful over from Sami. But India have inched closer to a win. Sami removes Kohli and Pandya but then Dhoni punches one through covers for three. A single off the last ball from Yuvraj makes it four runs and a wicket off the over.  Just 4 needed now.

  • 21:54 (IST)

OUT! Is there is twist in the tale?  Sami gets the second in the over. HH Pandya c Mohammad Hafeez b Mohammad Sami 0 (1m 2b 0x4 0x6)

Good length delivery outside off, nips away sharply. Pandya pokes at it and edges it to first slip where Hafeez fumbles but ends up grabbing the ball.

MS Dhoni strides out to the middle.

  • 21:52 (IST)

OUT! Kohli misses out on his fifty! V Kohli lbw b Mohammad Sami 49 (71m 51b 7x4 0x6)

Sami takes the wicket but it's too late now. Length delivery outside off, tailing in. Kohli shuffles a tad and looks to flick but seems to miss it. There are two sounds and he shows the bat tot he umpire as the Pakistani's appeal. The umpire lifts his finger. The replays indeed show that he got an inside edge. Kohli has a smile on his face as he walks back. A brilliant innings ends.

It's Hardik Pandya who strides out to the middle.

  • 21:50 (IST)

    After 14 overs, India 76/3 ( Kohli 49, Yuvraj 13)

Kohli hits the shot of the day in that over as he crunches one through extra cover for a boundary. Three more singles make it 7 runs off the over. 8 needed now.....

  • 21:45 (IST)

    After 13 overs, India 69/3 ( Kohli 43, Yuvraj 12)

Another over where there was a no ball and another over where the free hit got wasted. Yuvraj could just mistime his pull to wide long on for a single. 5 runs off the over. India inching close to a comfortable win here.

  • 21:41 (IST)

Mohammad Irfan back into the attack....

  • 21:39 (IST)

    After 12 overs, India 63/3 ( Kohli 39, Yuvraj 11)

A mixed over from Sami. Kohli went for a cut but missed, he then flicked one through mid-wicket for a boundary. Sami hit back to beat Yuvraj's outside edge with a beauty. 5 runs off the over. Just 21 needed off 48 now.

  • 21:37 (IST)

The 50-run stand has come up. Sensible batting from Kohli and Yuvraj.

  • 21:35 (IST)

    After 11 overs, India 58/3 ( Kohli 34, Yuvraj 11)

Wahab has been really poor today. He delivers a no ball in the over and gets away with the free hit delivery. 5 runs off the over. But it's looking all too easy for India at the movement. The movement has totally gone. 26 needed off 54 now.

  • 21:30 (IST)

    After 10 overs, India 53/3 ( Kohli 32, Yuvraj 10)

The early movement has vanished. Sami is bowling quick though. Kohli drives one through covers for a couple and a single more makes it three runs off the over. Yuvraj looks to pull the last one but its too quick and he misses. 3 runs off the over. 31 needed off 60.

  • 21:25 (IST)

    Mohammad Sami back on...

  • 21:24 (IST)

    After 9 overs, India 50/3 ( Kohli 29, Yuvraj 10)

This might be the over that finishes it all. Three fours off it. Kohli caresses a couple of overpitched balls through covers for fours and then Yuvraj flicks it behind square leg for the third four of the over. 15 runs off the over. A big one for India. Fifty comes up too.

  • 21:21 (IST)

  • 21:21 (IST)

Wahab Riaz into the attack now...

  • 21:20 (IST)

    After 8 overs, India 35/3 ( Kohli 18, Yuvraj 6)

Pakistan need to make something happen now. Kohli is getting into the groove. He pushes one hard wide of the slip cordon for a four. A single and a leg bye more make it 6 runs off the over. Irfan not getting too much swing or seam movement.

  • 21:16 (IST)

    Irfan continues....

  • 21:16 (IST)

    After 7 overs, India 29/3 ( Kohli 14, Yuvraj 5)

Kohli releases some pressure in that over with a couple of fours. He flicks one uppishly wide of the square leg fielder for four. It was risky but effective. He then drives one on the up through covers for consecutive fours. Amir then comes from round the wicket but Kohli is solid in his defense. 8 runs off the over. A superb spell ends - 4-0-18-3.

  • 21:13 (IST)

Amir will bowl out here. Interesting call....

  • 21:11 (IST)

  • 21:11 (IST)

    After 6 overs, India 21/3 ( Kohli 6, Yuvraj 5)

A very good over from Irfan. He got a couple to jag back in and beat Yuvraj's inside edge. And then bowled in that corridor outside off which Yuvraj left alone cautiously. Just one run off the over. Brilliant bowling from Pakistan.

  • 21:09 (IST)

    Irfan continues....

  • 21:08 (IST)

    After 5 overs, India 20/3 ( Kohli 6, Yuvraj 5)

A wicket-less over from Amir. He bowls a bouncer first up and it rears over the head of Kohli and the keeper for five wides. He bowls another short one and Kohli gets an outside edge on the fend between the slip cordon and the gully for  streaky single. There is an incident where Umar Akmal's throw hits the umpire and he needs medical attention. Amir comes from round the wicket off the last ball and beats Kohli's outside edge straightaway.

  • 21:04 (IST)

  • 21:01 (IST)

Amir continues, can he get another one?

  • 21:01 (IST)

    After 4 overs, India 13/3 ( Kohli 5, Yuvraj 4)

A mixed over from Irfan. He bowled one full and Yuvraj drove it through covers for a boundary. Irfan than brings a couple back and induces inside edges before bowling a snorter which snakes off the surface. The last one too zips past the outside edge. 4 runs off the over.

  • 20:58 (IST)

  • 20:57 (IST)

  • 20:56 (IST)

    After 3 overs, India 9/3 ( Kohli 5, Yuvraj 0)

Another sensational over from Amir. There was a huge LBW appeal turned down against Kohli as he missed a flick, there seemed to be a problem with height but replays showed it was umpire's call. Amir then got Raina whom he troubled off the first ball by bringing one back in sharply. Yuvraj then left his first ball but it whizzed inches past the off stump. Kohli finally defended one off the middle off the last ball. 3 runs and a wicket off the over.

  • 20:53 (IST)

OUT! Amir gets his third. Raina back in the hut. SK Raina c Wahab Riaz b Mohammad Amir 1 (10m 4b 0x4 0x6)

Good length delivery on middle and leg, it nips away. Raina is into his flick a tad early and is doen in by the away movement. He gets a leading edge to mid on where the fielder takes a simple catch. Amir sets off in celebrations. This is brilliant spell of fast bowling.

Yuvraj Singh is the new batsman.

  • 20:49 (IST)

    Amir continues...

  • 20:49 (IST)

    After 2 overs, India 6/2 ( Kohli 5, Raina 0)

Misfields won't help Pakistan, there was one at mid on which earned India two runs.  A disciplined over from Sami. He got a hint of swing. Kohli is looking calm out in the middle. He clipped one behind square leg for a couple. 4 runs off the over.

  • 20:46 (IST)

  • 20:45 (IST)

  • 20:45 (IST)

Mohammad Sami will bowl from the other end.

  • 20:45 (IST)

    After 1 over, India 2/2 ( Kohli 1, Raina 0)

What a brilliant first over. A huge LBW shout turned down off the first ball. A wicket off the second ball. A single, a wide and then the wicket of Rahane. Raina gets beaten off a beauty off the next ball before defending the last one. Two runs and two wickets off the over.

  • 20:42 (IST)

  • 20:42 (IST)

OUT! Another one bites the dust. Class bowling from Amir! A Rahane lbw b Mohammad Amir 0 (5m 1b 0x4 0x6)

Full outside off, it swings back in late. Rahane looks to drive but is done in by the inward movement. He misses and they all go up in a huge appeal. The umpire takes some time but then lifts his finger.

Suresh Raina is the new batsman.

  • 20:40 (IST)

OUT! Amir strikes second ball. Just what Pakistan needed. RG Sharma lbw b Mohammad Amir 0 (2m 2b 0x4 0x6)

There was a huge appeal for an LBW off the first ball against Rohit but the umpire remained unmoved. It seemed as if Rohit got lucky. The next ball was a full one, it nipped back in and Rohit missed his forward defense. It was dead plumb. What a couple of balls to start off.

Virat Kohli is the new batsman.

  • 20:36 (IST)

Back after the break. Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane are the openers. Mohammad Amir will start off proceedings.

Preview: On a high after a positive start to their Asia Cup campaign, India will aim to keep their winning momentum going when they take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their second Twenty20 International at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium here on Saturday.

India defeated hosts Bangladesh by 45 runs in the opener on Wednesday, thanks to Rohit Sharma's flamboyant innings of 83 runs, which was followed by some good bowling performances led by veteran pacer Ashish Nehra.

This is the first this iconic tournament is being played in the Twenty20 format. All the earlier editions were One-Day Internationals (ODI).

Form and history are both on India's side. The 2007 World Twenty20 champions have met Pakistan on six occasions in the shortest format of the game where India have outclassed their neighbours five times, including the unforgettable 2007 World T20 final in Johannesburg which India won by five runs in the last over.

The two teams last met here at the same ground in the 2014 World Twenty20, which India won by seven wickets.

But come Saturday, it will be a fresh start for both the teams as Pakistan will aim to keep aside their poor show against India and hope to register a win in their first match of the 2016 Asia Cup.

The 2009 World T20 winners will depend on their charismatic all-rounder skipper Shahid Afridi to deliver for the side alongside experienced Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik.

But all eyes will be on pacer Mohammad Amir, who made a successful comeback to international cricket recently after being convicted for spot fixing.

On the other hand, India after two back-to-back T20 series wins against Australia and Sri Lanka, are in full flow to knock any opponent out on any given day.

In-form openers Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan will try to give India a good start followed by flamboyant Virat Kohli, who failed against Bangladesh but will be raring to unleash his skills against Pakistan.

The presence of experienced Suresh Raina, Yuvraj Singh, hard-hitting newcomer Hardik Pandya followed by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni make the batting look extremely strong.

In the bowling department, Dhoni will hope his young gun Jasprit Bumrah along with experienced Nehra and spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will continue their good form.
